Hi Kiana, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I began my real estate career in 2015 when I became a licensed Realtor. Early on, I built my foundation by hosting open houses, which gave me the opportunity to connect with buyers and sellers in a hands-on way. From there, I developed a strong passion for helping military families and specialized in military relocation, guiding service members and their families as they transitioned to Georgia. Eventually, I expanded my reach and became licensed in South Carolina, serving clients across both states.
During the COVID era, I noticed how challenging the market had become for veterans, especially with VA loans in such a competitive environment. After the pandemic, buyer activity slowed, but at the same time, there was a surge of investors eager to purchase properties throughout Atlanta. Hedge funds and companies were converting much of the new construction into rental homes. That was the turning point when I realized property management was not only in demand again but also a natural fit for me.
Determined to build on my expertise, I went back to school, earned my broker’s license, and launched my own firm. Property management became the heart of my business—providing consistent income for owners, stability for tenants, and fulfillment for me. What started as a new direction quickly became my calling.
Today, 10 years later, I’m proud to lead my own real estate firm with a dedicated team of four. Together, we manage over $20 million in assets daily, offering high-touch property management and real estate solutions. What began with open houses has grown into a full-service firm built from the ground up—a true reflection of perseverance, adaptability, and passion for this industry.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Like many entrepreneurs, I could always see the end vision—owning a successful property management firm, managing a large portfolio, and delivering solutions for clients every day. But what I couldn’t see at first were the steps in the middle, and that’s where the real challenges came.
One major hurdle was navigating the licensing process. Even though I knew the work, I learned quickly that becoming a broker was essential to running a property management company legally and effectively. It was a reminder that passion must be paired with compliance and structure.
Another challenge was building the right systems. At first, I relied on a personal phone line, not realizing how many calls—and opportunities—would be missed due to telemarketers and robocalls. Eventually, I invested in a professional phone system with lead-tracking integrations, which allowed me to capture every inquiry and understand where my business was truly coming from.
It was the small but critical details—the “middle pieces”—that were the hardest to figure out. Learning to navigate those hurdles taught me that growth isn’t just about the big picture,
