Exploring Life & Business with King Nazir Muhammad of Jail House Religion

We’d like to introduce you to King Nazir Muhammad The Creator of Jail House Religion.

Hi King Nazir, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I have always been an artist and a writer from a very young age, but I was an artist with no direction or focus in regard to career goals.

It was only when I finally ended up in prison that the use of what I could do as an artist became clear to me.

I realized from living in an urban community most of my life and then in prison. That the two cultures that exist in both places were the same, and this lit a spark in my brain.

Because in both places there is a “church” but in prison what is most influential is the Jail House Religion that the inmates preach to each other.

So after realizing that the urban culture and the prison culture are the same, I understood that Jail House Religion would be more influential in the hood as well – so here we are.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Like all of us who grew up in urban communities, it was not an easy process to establish a positive outlook on life.

But after my time in prison, I understood that what I had been through could be used as a lesson for others.

But in order for those things to be effective lessons, I had to take the ignorance out of it.

I had to learn to analyze my bad experiences and improper thinking like a scientist trying to find the cure for an illness.

And once that was done, I was able to offer a cure for the urban mindset that could help correct some problems for people who have that mindset.

But I have to say, no .. it was not easy .. because urban life and urban thinking is more addictive than crack cocaine.

And as bad as life can be for those who live with that mindset, it is a hard drug to kick without god, education, or prison.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Jail House Religion?
Jail House Religion is the commercial name that I use to describe my online church, which is called The Church of Black $yientology.

The business concept of Jail House Religion was to develop a (Twitter Page) that acts as an online ministry.

This way, the teachings of the ministry could reach far and wide. And those who feel inclined to share the teachings can just retweet them.

The ministry is designed to edu-tain urban communities and help rehabilitate the mindsets of the people there.

Much like a prison ministry because as I mentioned, the hood culture and the prison culture are identical.

So our teachings speak more to personal issues, mixed with religious ideas that are not as unrealistic as most.

A lot of our reading material is free, but we do have books and clothing items for sale online.

If you are a hip hop fan, then this ministry is for you, and you don’t have to leave your apartment to come check us out.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Actually, all of the material was already created for the church at the time COVID-19 hit.

But being isolated made me realize that online ministries and businesses in general were the future.

So COVID just confirmed to me that I was on the right track as far as being an online entrepreneur.
