

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kirstyn Allen.
Hi Kirstyn, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My first business was birthed when I was eight years old. It was an in-home nail salon. I like to say I was born an entrepreneur because it’s all I’ve known for the majority of my life. Fast forward years later, I went away to college at North Carolina A&T State University where I majored in marketing. I absolutely love my experience and learned so much about business and marketing. After graduation, I received a few job offers and ended up joining a corporate sales rotational program. This experience was where I was challenged and stretched a lot but there was a missing piece. When the pandemic was in full swing, I had decided it was time to chase my dreams. In 2021, I got into the marketing profession and also started my own consulting firm, The Kay Allen Agency. My agency’s mission is to help small business owners generate consistent revenue by leveraging marketing and strategy. There were some many businesses started during the pandemic and I want to see them all succeed. That’s why I do what I do. Driving impact, inspiring others, and operating in integrity are my values!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I struggled a lot with confidence. Although I have so much knowledge and talent, I’m an introvert. I’m not the most outspoken or first one to speak up in groups. I had to work on my boldness and fears of rejection. Starting a business was life-changing for me because I was forced to face a lot of this. After years of striving to be perfect, I began to set myself free of that and what others think. Now I’m leaning in just being me. Without limits.

Kay Allen Agency is a marketing consulting and coaching firm that was founded in 2021. We serve entrepreneurs and small businesses across the country who struggle with marketing, sales, and systems. This year, we added coaching programs, workshops, and courses to teach these fundamentals extending our reach and impact. Our unique value is my triple-threat expertise: marketing, sales, and automation. My clients benefit from getting an end-to-end solution to growing their businesses. Also, our services work really well for new entrepreneurs because I take a simplified yet effective approach to helping my clients achieve amazing results. I’m most proud of my clients. I hosted my first group coaching cohort at the beginning of the year and watching them progress, get more confident, and start the business of their dreams has been the ultimate reward. Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I’ve had to do a lot of mindset work and books that have helped me are The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*** by Mark Mason and Brag Better by Meredith Fineman. I also loved We’re Going to Need More Wine by Gabrielle Union. Calm and the Mirror apps have been great for my mental health as well.
