Today we’d like to introduce you to Krissy Lawrence.
Hi Krissy , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My hair journey started long before I ever thought of it as a business. I originally became a licensed cosmetologist in 2018 because I genuinely love making women feel confident. But like a lot of people, life shifted. I became a mom, priorities changed, and I stepped away from the beauty industry for a while to focus on family and stability.
Years later, I found myself at a crossroads. I had the skill, the experience, and the passion, but I was fearful to start again. What pushed me forward was realizing that I didn’t just miss doing hair, I missed how it made me feel: creative, capable, and connected to women.
In March of 2025, I officially bet on myself and relaunched my hair business from the ground up, relying solely on consistency, discipline, and a clear vision. I noticed a gap in the market for luxury, hair-included services that were efficient, protective, and realistic for busy women. That’s when I began specializing in closure quick weaves, sew-ins, and protective installs that prioritize the health of the client’s natural hair while delivering an elevated finish.
Today, I’m proud to say I’ve rebuilt my clientele from scratch, developed a loyal following through social media, and positioned my brand as a go-to for women who want luxury results without compromising their natural hair. I’m still growing and still learning, but the difference now is that I fully trust gift and my vision. This journey has taught me that starting over doesn’t mean starting from zero, it means starting with wisdom.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, and I think that’s the part that most people don’t see. Starting over meant starting without security. There were months where income was inconsistent, self doubt was loud, and I questioned whether I had waited too long or missed my mark.
One of the biggest struggles was rebuilding confidence after being out of the industry for so long. Technique can be sharpened but belief in yourself takes time when you you’ve stepped away from what once defined you.
Another major challenge was learning how to run it like a real business. Pricing correctly, setting boundaries, protecting my time as a mom, and understanding that being booked isn’t the same as being profitable. That was a hard but necessary lesson.
None of the struggle was wasted. It forced me to become disciplined, intentional, and unafraid of starting again. Those challenges are exactly what shaped the stylist and business owner I am today.
We’ve been impressed with MANE Obsession, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is built on belief that luxury hair services don’t have to come at the expense of your natural hair. I specialize in hair-included closure quick weaves, sew-ins, and protective installs designed for women who want polished, long lasting results while still prioritizing the health of their real hair.
What truly sets my brand apart is the foundation. I focus heavily on the foundation and technique. I believe the best installs aren’t just about bundles or lace, they’re about how everything is cared for underneath. That’s why my clients get flat, seamless results underneath no matter how long or thick their natural hair is.
Client experience is just as important as the final look. I’ve created a space where women can truly “come as they are”. Hair included, shampoo included, no extra stress. I want every client to feel cared for, confident, and seen from the moment they sit in my chair.
More than anything, I want people to know that my business isn’t just about hair- it’s about consistency, confidence, and intention. Every install is done with the same purpose: to give women an elevated experience that protects their hair and fits into their real lives.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My biggest advice is stop waiting until you feel “ready”. Confidence comes from doing, not thinking. If you wait until everything feels perfect, you’ll never start.
Second, treat your craft like a business from day one. Price with intention, track your money, protect your time, and don’t confuse being busy with being profitable.
And finally, consistency will outperform motivation every single time. There were days I didn’t feel inspired, but I showed up anyway. That’s where growth really happens.
