Exploring Life & Business with Lia Shin of C + H INTERIORS

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lia Shin.

Lia Shin

Hi Lia, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I’ve been deeply involved in the design world since I was young. Originally, I followed my artistic passion for years as a Graphic Designer on several large-scale projects until I was led to my current calling for Interiors. Taking my creative experience and vision as a Korean American female designer, I established my Interior Design firm, C + H INTERIORS, and have grown it over 20+ years into a fully custom, design-to-build boutique.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Although I believe that my work as a designer provides an essential experience, the Interior Design industry is largely viewed as not being a “need-based business.” Demand for design services surge back and forth constantly. With these waves, it’s a challenge planning how to best strengthen and grow each of my departments during slowdowns while still being ever ready to hop on new projects immediately.

Additionally, I always aim to maintain and advance our identity as a one-of-a-kind boutique that commits to creating inspiration instead of only taking it. Constantly striving for my utmost, highest quality

output and pushing the boundaries in all of my projects can present challenges in the creative process, but ultimately the results always pay off beautifully.

As you know, we’re big fans of C + H INTERIORS. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
As a lifelong artist, I bring my love and affinity for timeless, enduring beauty and evolve it in new ways to every project. Combining iconic elements in fresh, unexpected mediums creates a novel, modern beauty that still captures all the definitive mastery of the classics in interior spaces. With this unexpected, timeless aesthetic approach, I’ve worked on countless residential, commercial, and hospitality project across Georgia, New York, Japan, Korea, and more.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I have nothing but the deepest gratitude and appreciation for all my team, both past and current. I could have come nearly as far without all the top-quality designers, specialists, and more who’ve worked to make every project a success.

Additionally, I have the support and care of my family, both my loving husband and my beautiful daughter. I could do nothing without them.
