Today we’d like to introduce you to Linda Brooks-Kennedy.
Hi Linda, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I have been planning family parties for years, so I have always dabbled in hosting parties and making sweet treats. At one of my family gatherings, the daughter of my longtime friend asked me to make the treats for her 12th birthday and I was extremely flattered. Of all of the places that she could have requested to order her celebratory desserts, and she chose me. I was horned to receive this request. She was so excited when she received the treats. Her reaction really warmed my heart. From that day forward I decided to take my culinary skills seriously. I have been pursuing this passion ever since.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
“To whom much is given, much is required”. The road has not always been easy but all things worth having are worth working for, I began this journey in the fall of 2019. Working full-time as a restaurant manager and opening your own business definitely brought about some challenges. The pandemic struck just as I was beginning to get my business off the ground. I was working 16-hour shifts due to COVID shutdowns which didn’t leave much time to market, network, obtain orders, and execute them. Thanks to a strong support team and dedication to my craft, I was able to weather the storm.

Sweet Treats By Linda, LLC was established in the Fall of 2019. I am an entrepreneur from Atlanta with an Atlanta-based sweet treats business. I have been in the restaurant and culinary field for 20+ years. I create a variety of custom treats: candy apples, chocolate-covered pretzels & Oreos, cupcakes and cake pops, I am known for creating custom treats with care. I am most proud of my customer service and delicious treats. I want readers to know that my business provides treats for all occasions. No event is too big or too small for Sweet Treats By Linda. Whether it’s a get well soon or a happy birthday, Sweet Treats By Linda always aims to please.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I advise people to utilize the resources that you have in front of them and to talk about their business, Talk about your business every chance you get. Word of mouth goes a long way.
