Today we’d like to introduce you to Londie Murray.
Hi Londie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am originally from the Pine Hills community in Orlando, FL moved here in 2002 to attend Georgia State University. The year I graduated from State, I bought a house and decided Atlanta would be my permanent home. I worked in the financial industry for a while and felt unfulfilled and like I wasn’t fulfilling my purpose. I quit and soon became a wife & mother. I always had the entrepreneurial spirit and wanted to start something of my own. In 2020 a close friend Devon Deberry and I started an online boutique for women called The BLVD Clothing. We had no idea what we were doing, but we were making sales. Three years into it and I realized that we want to have growth and the best way to do that is to have something very specific that you can only get from us. This is when Pine Hills Polo Club begins. When you’re in Atlanta, there’s this overwhelming pride of being from the city, no matter which area or neighborhood you represent. I have that same pride for my community and saw this as an opportunity to spread the word of Pine Hills as much as I can. Pine Hills Is one of those communities that often get a bad connotation, but the people in the community are wonderful and want more for it, other than the occasional bad news story. Pine Hills Polo Club was created to change the perception, to see this as an area of growth and that the community cares. Pine Hills Polo Club is not only a brand, it’s a lifestyle. “Orlando born, Pine Hills raised”
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it has not been a smooth road. The struggles are the life/work balance, capital and definitely the drive to do it. Entrepreneurship is a tough journey overall and it takes up a lot of time, energy and money to make it work. I don’t have office hours. They can be throughout the day or night. Trying to be visible in the social media space is an around-the-clock job by itself. Time management and consistency are major factors in this journey and realizing that will help you reach your goal.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
The BLVD Clothing is an online women’s boutique, our slogan is “You are the main event, Dress like it”.We have clothing for all your social or professional occasions. We are also the Exclusive retailer of Pine Hills Polo Club which is our street luxury brand, which offers upscale quality clothing. We are known for having unique quality looks; we don’t want you to walk in the room and look like everyone else; and we also want you to be able to wear our looks more than once. Quality fabrics and how our Clothing feels & makes someone feels is very important to us.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I take pride in what I do and each package comes with a handwritten note from me thanking customers for their purchase. I spearheaded a scholarship fund this summer for my High School and raised over $10,000 in two months. I was able to have the city of Orlando give my high school its on Alumni Day Proclamation. I along with my business partner Jae Fortune, Put together an entire week of events for Alumni called Trojan Spirit Week, the first of its kind and we had Advent Health as a partner. We are currently working on an end-of-the-summer event called Welcome to Cannabasas where we are presenting Pine Hills Polo Club as well as giving access to the cannabis industry, medicinal education usages and pathways to a medical card.
