Today we’d like to introduce you to Marion Savic.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
We opened in September 2013 with the goal of promoting and supporting local Georgia makers. My grandfather owned and operated a small grocery in Florida and that is where I got my love for small, local businesses and the impact they have on the local economy and community. We support dozens of small business in Georgia and around the South. As the Square in Marietta has grown and changed with new businesses, restaurants and housing our store fills a need for local groceries and unique, handcrafted gifts.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Finding local products was the biggest challenge early on, but that has improved with the growth of the Georgia Grown network, word of mouth and online ordering platforms. We have always had great community and city support and a thriving square location.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Local Exchange?
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Community, a friendly store that people enjoy being in, our wide selection of products, and our dedication to local makers.
