Today we’d like to introduce you to Meagan Taylor
Meagan, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve always had a love for mamas and babies and was a nanny throughout my high school and college years. After working as a pediatric speech-language pathologist for several years, I began helping my cousin with her children and was introduced to the idea of “overnight newborn care” when she had a night nurse come for her infant. I was highly intrigued and quickly dove into the field of newborn and postpartum care. I completed trainings as a Newborn Care Specialist and became a Certified Postpartum Doula. I put my notice in at my job as a speech-language pathologist and started my business: Take Care Mommy, LLC. It was a huge leap of faith, but I am so glad I did it! After serving families in the postpartum period myself, I began expanding by building a team of other postpartum doulas in the Atlanta area. We are now a team of 10+ postpartum doulas and newborn care specialists providing both daytime and overnight postpartum support in the metro Atlanta area. I recently stepped back from providing care myself, as I welcomed my own baby girl into the world, and now run the agency from home.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Building my business has been a really fun journey. I have met some amazing people along the way and am able to help connect families in need with the support they deserve in the postpartum period. The biggest struggle I’ve encountered is learning how to run the “business” side of things, as it’s more than just having a love for mamas and babies for me now!

Take Care Mommy (TCM) is a postpartum doula and newborn care agency. We provide overnight newborn care and daytime postpartum doula support to families in and around Atlanta, GA. Our overnight care is our most popular service, allowing new parents to rest during the night while we safely care for their babies. TCM postpartum doulas truly care and LOVE what they do. As the agency owner, I love bringing my team together and creating an individualized schedule of a families choosing. We are all strong communicators and truly work together to make the experience as smooth as possible for our clients. We do book up quickly, so it is always recommended to reach out to us early on in your pregnancy; ideally in the second trimester.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
It was a huge leap of faith for me to leave my career as a speech-language pathologist and start my business. My family did not understand at first, but I knew it was the right thing to do. I did not have one client or contract lined up when I put my notice in at work. However, the motivation I felt and faith I had to make this transition pushed me to take the risk, and it was the best decision I’ve ever made.
