Exploring Life & Business with Meredith of Mere Esthetics

Today we’d like to introduce you to Meredith.

Hi Meredith, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Beauty and skincare is something that has always been a part of me. Growing up I was always experimenting with makeup and as I got older that turned into skincare. As a teen I struggled with breakouts and wanted to dive deeper into finding out the cause rather than just taking prescribed medications from my dermatologist. After attending college, I took my state board and received my Master Cosmetologist license. As I began working with clients I started really learning about people’s skin types, lifestyles, eating habits and routines.
I had the opportunity to customize facials for clients and provide them with suggestions regarding what they consume that impacts their skin, as well as recommend home skincare products and routines to experiment with.
Working at a spa you are limited to the brands that they have on site and they always don’t work for everyone’s skin or budget. I realized that I wanted to venture out on my own to provide each of my clients with a personalized experience. So, I took a leap of faith and opened Mere Esthetics.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As a single mom of four it has been incredibly challenging starting my own business! Balancing home life and running my own business is hard. As a solo esthetician I’m booking, rescheduling, and canceling appointments; managing advertising and creating social media posts; overseeing the business finances and taxes; ordering supplies; and managing my studio—all while taking care of clients. I am a one woman show. There have been numerous occasions when I’ve felt like giving up, and I know there will be more tough days ahead. However, through prayer, hard work, and a lot of tears, I manage to make it all work.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
This is not chain owned by a faceless corporation in a cold, robotic atmosphere. Every client who walks into my studio has a unique experience and individualized results. There’s no *one-size-fits-all* solution when it comes to lashes, facials, or waxing. I take the time to assess each person’s skin and lashes, while also getting to know their personality and lifestyle to help them achieve the best results. I believe that quality skincare doesn’t have to be costly to deliver amazing results, so I strive to find the best products that fit my clients’ budgets for their home skincare routines. As a single mom, I completely understand the importance of working within a budget. If you ask any of my clients, they will tell you that this is a safe place where you can truly be yourself, welcomed with love, compassion, and understanding. My goal for my clients is to make them feel beautiful inside and out.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
A little about me… I’m a momma to 4 beautiful babies who are my whole world and my fur baby kitty, Maggie. If there’s one purpose I was meant to fulfill on this earth, apart from my passion for esthetics, it’s being a momma. Born and raised as a Georgia peach, I was brought up to treat everyone with kindness. I love Jesus, coffee, tacos, naps, 90s/early 2000s alternative music and horror movies. I am obsessed with everything fall and Halloween. My favorite colors are pink, black and glitter. I think everything should have a little sparkle. As a cancer survivor, I believe in living every day to its fullest and appreciating the little moments in life. You never know when it will be your last day.
