Today we’d like to introduce you to Nichole Walker, LPC, NCC.

Nichole Walker, LPC, NCC

Hi Nichole, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey in counseling began 15 years ago in education as a School Counselor. Supporting students in grades k-12 from a holistic approach ignited my desire to help individuals navigate and overcome challenging moments in their lives. Teaching thousands of students helpful strategies for academic support, assisting them with improving their social skills, navigating challenging family dynamics, and providing tools to assist with navigating their emotions were just a few examples of the pivotal roles I played over the years. Often times this work extended beyond the school setting connecting parents and families to outside support and resources for mental health. As the years progressed working in education, I developed a strong desire to be able to provide more individualized support, which was not something I was able to do in the school setting. This led me to explore new options and I landed in group private practice.

I was afforded the opportunity to work in two successful group practices over the span of almost 5 years, where I supported adolescents, teens, and adults. These positions greatly expanded my experience under supervision and allowed me to take clients with varying needs on a true growth journey overcoming the obstacles they faced in life. These settings allowed me to discover where I thrive and to cultivate my own therapeutic style and niche, which is now working with adults 18+, primarily women. I prayed and took the leap of faith to establish my own solo private practice in June of 2025 where I continue to thrive and support those in need.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I can definitely say that the road has not been smooth. The years of supervision along with both challenging, yet rewarding experiences were not for the faint at heart. Now having my solo practice, Believe In Your Journey Counseling & Holistic Care, I am required to wear many hats beyond just a therapist or provider. I am the owner, administrator, and marketer. All of these roles require me to continue expanding my knowledge demanding a great deal of time and patience. With God’s grace coupled with strong systems and supports in place, I am grateful to say that I am growing and thriving in my business.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Believe In Your Journey Counseling & Holistic Care?
Believe In Your Journey Counseling & Holistic Care is a solo mental health and wellness practice. I specialize in helping adult individuals 18+, primarily women, to learn how to trust & relate to their emotions rather than trying to control them. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, learning to establish and maintain healthy boundaries, or working through trauma, I’m here to support you along your journey to becoming your best self and thrive.

What sets me apart from other practices is that I provide a variety of mental health and holistic services to suit my clients individual needs. I offer traditional talk therapy, EMDR & Brainspotting along with healing sound baths and guided meditations to help clients reconnect with their sense of purpose and spiritual grounding. All of these services are provided virtually throughout the states of Georgia, Florida, and South Carolina.

What I am most proud of brand wise began with the name of my practice. I’ve heard many times that the name was “too long” especially when it comes to marketing. However, it has meaning that was born out of my own life-long journey of struggling to believe in myself and even at times what God promised me in His word through my faith. Once I finally gained understanding on how to trust and believe in Him, I in turn began to learn how to trust and believe in myself and things started changing for the better in my life. Due to my own life experiences, I have been able to share that same knowledge with clients and empower them to do the same on their own journey over the years. So, when the time came to name my practice, it came naturally. My goal is always to build trust and great relationships with my clients on the foundation of mutual respect and professionalism. I am now able to offer a safe, compassionate, non-judgmental environment where clients are seen, heard, and encouraged to show up as their true authentic selves believing that better is coming if they trust the process along their journey.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My greatest advice for anyone just starting out is to believe in yourself! If you don’t believe in yourself, no one else will either. Create a network of support, be willing to make mistakes and learn from them, and take risks to grow. Also, know your own capacity. In an era where there is 24 hour access to almost any and everything, it can get overwhelming to try and absorb all the information that is ready at your fingertips. Occasionally, unplug and reconnect with self to recenter and ground. Everything is not a one size fits all and you have to learn and do what’s best for you, not everyone else. Take what you need and leave the rest. Go and be great!
