Today we’d like to introduce you to Nika Samples.
Hi Nika , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
As women, we’re taught to nurture others, to put everyone’s needs before our own. But somewhere along the way, many of us forget to care for ourselves. For years, I found myself grappling with acne, fatigue, depression, and sadness. Issues that seemed impossible to fix—issues I now know were connected to my vaginal and reproductive wellness. My period cramps were excruciating and my bleeding gradually went from moderate to hemorrhaging. No one was talking about the abnormality of it, all of my doctors told me fibroids were normal especially for black women, and surgery or a partial hysterectomy were my only options. No one had a solution that made any sense or that I was comfortable with.I realized that if I wanted answers, I had to seek them out myself. That’s how my journey began, and it’s how I became known as “The Vaguru.”
I’m Nika Samples, founder of VDAY Premier Wellness, and my mission is to empower women to take control of their health, particularly when it comes to vaginal wellness and uterine care. Since 2017 I’ve dedicated my life to obtaining information and experience to provide women with the tools, treatments, and knowledge they need to prioritize themselves and live vibrant, healthy lives. Today, through my work as a vaginal health professional and consultant, I’m helping women everywhere step into their power by understanding one of the most vital, yet overlooked, aspects of their health.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My journey didn’t start in a clinic or a classroom; it started with my own health struggles. Like so many women, I found myself dealing with recurrent issues that weren’t being properly addressed by traditional medicine. Doctors would offer quick fixes—usually NSAIDS, birth control or pain creams—but no one was getting to the root cause. I didn’t want to be on synthetic hormones. And I did not want to damage my organs by digesting medication constantly. I kept asking, “Why does this keep happening to women?” and more importantly, “How can I stop it for good?”
After years of frustration and feeling muted and dismissed, I realized I had to become my own advocate. I threw myself into researching everything I could about women’s health, from nutrition to hormonal imbalances to holistic remedies. The more I learned, the more confident and powerful I felt. And I knew that I was one of millions of women going through this. That’s when I decided I had to share what I’d learned with others.
I realized that many of us have been conditioned to feel shame or embarrassment about our vaginal health. We’ve been taught to ignore symptoms or “just accept it” because it’s “normal” for women to experience unpleasant odors, yeast infections and pain. Just suffer in silence. But I have never subscribed to that narrative. I believe that every woman deserves to live her healthiest, happiest life filled with inner joy, and that starts with understanding and caring for every part of her body—especially the parts we’re often told to keep quiet about.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about VDAY Premier Wellness?
I founded V Day Face and Body Boutique in Nashville, TN, present day VDAY Premier Wellness. My goal was to create a space where women could receive not just treatments, but education, classes, support, and a sense of empowerment. At VDAY, we specialized in treatments that address vaginal health from a holistic standpoint. From our signature “V-steam” to our Brazilian wax and Vajacial services, we’re focused on giving women both the confidence and the health they deserve.
One of the most exciting aspects of what we offer is our premium line of vaginal suppositories, made with high-quality natural ingredients like probiotics, jojoba oil, cocoa butter, and shea butter. These suppositories are designed to promote balance and healing, without the harsh chemicals found in many over-the-counter products. My mission has always been to provide real, lasting solutions, not just temporary fixes. For me, it’s about designing a lifestyle ritual for vaginal care.
We also focus on creating a luxurious and upscale environment that feels welcoming, where women of all colors feel represented and celebrated. It’s not just about the treatments; it’s about creating a space where women feel comfortable discussing their health openly, without judgment, fear, guilt or embarrassment.
Why Women’s Health Needs to Be Front and Center
Vaginal health isn’t just a personal issue—it’s a public health issue. Yet, it’s still a topic that many women feel uncomfortable discussing, even with their closest friends or healthcare providers. This lack of conversation leads to a lack of education, and without education, women are left feeling confused, frustrated, and helpless when they encounter health issues.
That’s why I’m so passionate about raising awareness and changing the narrative around women’s health, especially in the south, where we have such a diverse and vibrant community. Whether you’re in your 20s or your 60s, whether you’re dealing with recurring infections, hormonal imbalances, or just want to feel more confident and connected to your body, there’s a solution out there for you—and I’m here to help you find it.
Through VDAY Premier Wellness, I’ve been able to reach women from all walks of life, offering them support and guidance. And while the focus is on vaginal health, the benefits go far beyond that. When women feel good about their health, they are more productive and impactful in every aspect of their lives. It affects how we show up in our relationships, our careers, and our communities. It’s about more than just the physical; it’s about how we feel as women.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I was a medic in the USAF and now a veteran.
