Today we’d like to introduce you to Nikki Wilson.

Hi Nikki, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve been a school-based Occupational Therapist since 2001, and since then, the majority of the students I work with have had handwriting difficulties. With some of my students, no matter what I did, no matter what I said, no matter how many times or how many different ways I said what I said, and no matter how many times we practiced, they just didn’t get it!!!

What I was doing wasn’t working… until one day, I made rhymes for each letter, with hopes that my kids would remember how to write letters the right way, using the rhymes I created. IT WORKED!!!

Tristan finally learned how to write capital T: Long line down and across the top; lowercase r: down back up and a hook; lowercase i: short line down and a dot at the top; lowercase s: up around across around and up; lowercase t: long line down and across the middle; lowercase a: make a c close it up bring it down; and lowercase n: down back up and a hump.

As a matter of fact, and without exaggeration, EVERY SINGLE CHILD (with the prerequisite cognitive and visual-motor capabilities) who has consistently used www.rhythmandwriting.com, those with special needs and those without, have made handwriting improvement.

After ten years of development, I finally launched Rhythm & Writing in 2017, and since then, I’ve been figuring things out as I go, through trial and error and by learning from others. With limited finances and a “make it happen” budget, I pay for what I can when I can, and continue to refine and further develop my product, believing that one day, Rhythm & Writing is gonna TAKE OFF… and become THE MOST LOVED & MOST USED handwriting program OF ALL TIME!!! Could today be the day???

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Rhythm & Writing is an award-winning handwriting program that teaches kids how to write… THE RIGHT WAY!!! It’s perfect for kiddos just learning to write, those who need extra help learning to write, and those who don’t like to write!!! It’s effective with typically developing kids & can be adapted for those with special needs. IT WORKS BECAUSE KIDS LOVE IT!!!

Correct letter formations are taught by The Get Write Crew, a diverse group of animals who teach with rhymes, music, and lyric videos. There’s Big Country Bear, who strums the guitar; Mo’ Rock Monkey, who bangs the drums; Jazzy Faith Bunny, who works the keys and sings; and Hip-Hop Frog, the lyricist, who rocks the mic real nice. Lessons can be easily accessed on our website (www.rhythmandwriting.com) and our app (PLAYSTORE: Rhythm & Writing), which was published THIS YEAR!

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
In addition to limited purchases due to being a new, fairly unrecognized handwriting program, I’ve had difficulty getting Rhythm & Writing adopted into school curricula because of the lack of formal research conducted to prove its effectiveness.

While informal pilots and reviews have been conducted by elementary teachers and homeschool families, and implementation of the program by Occupational Therapists has led to improved handwriting, its effectiveness has not yet been documented through unbiased research.

It would be amazing if a formal research project proving the efficacy of Rhythm & Writing could be conducted free of charge.
