Exploring Life & Business with Olga Pyshnyak-Lawrence of Motivated Mama by Olga

Today we’d like to introduce you to Olga Pyshnyak-Lawrence.

Hi Olga, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story begins with a little Ukrainian girl who came to America and faced relentless bullying for being different. But here’s the thing – even then, I never wanted to blend in. I always wanted to stand out, to be authentically me.

Growing up as a Ukrainian immigrant child in the U.S. was challenging. Kids would make fun of my accent, my different perspective, the way I saw the world. But instead of letting that break me, it became the foundation of my mission today – helping others embrace their authenticity and reject societal mediocrity.

The real transformation came through motherhood. When Maya and Michael came into my life, I realized that having children doesn’t limit your potential – it amplifies it. Society tells us that motherhood means sacrificing our dreams, but I’ve experienced the opposite. My children became my greatest motivation to build something meaningful.

That’s when Motivated Mama by Olga was born – a platform built on three core principles: empower, inspire, engage. I started with life coaching, helping people visualize their success and take incremental steps toward their dreams. Then I expanded into organic aromatherapy skincare, creating products that nurture both body and spirit.

My passion for empowerment extends to writing as well. I’ve published three books: “An Everyday Mama Finds a Passionate Life” – my autobiographical journey, “Out of the Wilderness – My Journey to the Land Called Heaven Book 1” – a Christian fantasy, and “Living an Empowered Life Personally and Professionally” – a collection of life-changing notes. Through these books and my growing desire to speak publicly, I’m expanding my reach to inspire even more women to embrace their potential.

Today, I’m pursuing my master herbalist diploma, growing my business, and showing other mamas that we can build meaningful enterprises while staying true to our values.

The war in Ukraine has reinforced my focus on authenticity and simpler living. It reminds me daily that life is precious, family is everything, and we must pursue what truly matters.

My vision is to continue empowering women through all my platforms – coaching, products, books, and speaking – to reject limiting beliefs, embrace their potential, and create lives filled with passion, purpose, and joy.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s been anything but smooth! But I’ve learned that the struggles are what shape us into who we’re meant to become.

The journey started with childhood bullying as a Ukrainian immigrant. That early experience of being an outsider could have broken me, but instead it taught me resilience and the importance of staying authentic to who you are.

As an entrepreneur, the challenges have been relentless. Customer acquisition has been one of my biggest hurdles – figuring out how to reach the right people who need what I’m offering. Social media has been a constant learning curve, trying to balance authenticity with algorithms. Time management is brutal when you’re wearing every hat in your business while being present for your children.

Money constraints have forced me to be incredibly creative and resourceful. I’ve had to learn skills I never thought I’d need – from understanding legal issues to mastering content creation to figuring out email campaigns. Website traffic, customer retention, automation – each of these felt like climbing a mountain when I was starting out.

But here’s what kept me going through every moment I wanted to give up: thinking about my children, Maya and Michael. I’m building a better world for them – one where they’re free to be themselves fully and completely. Every struggle became worth it when I remembered I’m creating a legacy of authenticity and courage for them to inherit.

As a believer in God, I’ve learned that to keep going is an act of obedience. Even when the path seemed impossible, faith reminded me that this mission is bigger than my comfort zone. Growing up in a Slavic, fundamentalist culture where mothers were viewed as second-class citizens actually fueled my determination to show other mamas that we can build meaningful businesses while staying true to our values.

The war in Ukraine has added another layer of perspective – it’s reinforced that life is precious, family is everything, and we must pursue what truly matters despite the obstacles.

Each struggle has been a teacher, and I wouldn’t change any of it because it’s all led me to this moment where I can authentically help other women embrace their potential.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Motivated Mama by Olga is built on a simple but powerful mission: empower, inspire, engage. What sets us apart is that we’re not just another wellness brand – we’re a movement that rejects societal mediocrity and champions authentic living.

At our core, we specialize in three key areas: organic aromatherapy skincare, transformational life coaching, and empowering content through books and speaking. Our skincare line features carefully crafted organic products made with essential oils, sweet almond oil, and rose water – ingredients chosen not just for their effectiveness, but for their ability to nurture both body and spirit.

What makes us truly unique is our foundational belief that motherhood doesn’t limit your potential – it amplifies it. While society tells women that having children means sacrificing dreams, we prove the opposite through lived experience. This perspective infuses everything we do, from our “Fiercely Feminine” oil to our “Transform Your Life” coaching program.

Our life coaching approach is distinctive because we focus on helping people visualize their success as already achieved and take incremental steps toward their dreams. We teach that setbacks are actually setups for future opportunities.

Community involvement has been central to who I am since high school – I’ve served as a volunteer and board member in various capacities and roles throughout the years. “Giving back and blooming where I’m planted” has always been part of my messaging, which is why I give back 10% of profits from our skincare line to various needs and charities in the community. This isn’t just business – it’s about creating positive impact where we live and serve.

What I’m most proud of brand-wise is our authenticity. We don’t follow trends or try to be everything to everyone.

Our readers should know that when they engage with Motivated Mama by Olga, they’re joining a community that believes in redefining success on personal terms. Whether through our organic skincare that makes you feel beautiful in your own skin, our coaching that helps you visualize and achieve your dreams, or our books that guide you towards your own transformation story, everything we offer is designed to help you embrace your full potential.

We’re not here to blend in – we’re here to help you stand out authentically and create a life filled with passion, purpose, and joy.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
As someone who’s constantly learning and growing, I’m always seeking resources that fuel both personal and professional development.

When it comes to books, I’m a huge believer in classic literature for life lessons. “Little Women” has been particularly meaningful – I actually use it to connect with my children Maya and Michael while teaching them about courage, strength, passion, and joy. There’s something timeless about these stories that speaks to universal truths about character and resilience.

For my spiritual growth, which is foundational to everything I do, I lean heavily on my faith and biblical teachings. As a believer, I find that prayer and scripture study provide the clarity and strength I need to navigate both business challenges and personal growth. My faith reminds me that perseverance is an act of obedience, especially when the path gets difficult.

I’m also constantly learning through my formal education – I’m currently pursuing my master herbalist diploma, which feeds directly into my aromatherapy and skincare work. This hands-on learning approach helps me create better products and serve my customers more authentically.

Honestly, some of my best resources come from real-life experiences and conversations with other entrepreneurs and mothers who are also building meaningful businesses. There’s something powerful about connecting with people who understand the unique challenges of balancing motherhood with entrepreneurship.

What I’ve found most valuable isn’t necessarily a specific app or podcast, but rather cultivating a mindset of continuous learning and staying open to wisdom wherever it comes from – whether that’s a classic novel, a conversation with a fellow mama, or a lesson learned through my own struggles and victories.

The key is being intentional about what you consume and making sure it aligns with your values and goals rather than just following the latest trends.
