Exploring Life & Business with Rachel Peavy of Peavy Travel Co.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Peavy.

Hi Rachel, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Travel has always been part of my DNA. My grandparents sparked my curiosity about the world – they had a wall of dozens of photos in their home, each one from a different destination they’d visited. I used to stand in front of it as a child and dream of going everywhere they’d been. My late aunt was also a world traveler who made it to nearly 200 countries before she passed. That sense of curiosity and adventure runs deep in my family, and I’ve carried it with me my entire life.

My first international trip was to Paris when I was just seven, and by high school I was traveling through Europe with the People to People Student Ambassador program to France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Spain, and Hungary. Those experiences opened my eyes to how travel shapes our perspective and sense of connection.

When I began my career in communications and PR, I naturally gravitated toward travel and tourism, representing hotels, destinations, and hospitality brands. It was the perfect intersection of storytelling and wanderlust – helping people imagine what it felt like to be somewhere new.

In recent years, I started helping a good friend coordinate her international yoga retreats. We share a passion for travel that goes beyond sightseeing – it’s about immersion, culture, and the sense of restoration that comes from stepping away from the everyday. That collaboration reignited my love of crafting meaningful experiences and ultimately inspired me to found Peavy Travel Co.

Today, I help others experience travel the way I’ve always loved it – immersive, intentional, and rejuvenating. My focus is on elevated journeys that go beyond itineraries to create genuine connection – with the destination, the culture, and oneself.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In 2021, I had to undergo open-heart surgery to replace my aortic valve. That experience completely changed my perspective. When you face something that forces you to stop and really take stock of your life, you realize how precious time is and how important it is to experience all that life has to offer, not someday, but now.

After my recovery, I made a promise to myself: every year, I’d take at least one international retreat – time just for me, to reflect, rest, and reconnect. Those trips became more than vacations; they became essential moments of clarity and healing.

That experience is part of what inspired me to launch Peavy Travel Co. I want others to give themselves that same kind of gift – space to breathe, to explore, and to truly be present. Travel, when done intentionally, can be incredibly restorative, and I love helping people create that kind of meaningful experience for themselves.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Peavy Travel Co. is a boutique travel advisory that curates immersive, restorative, and wellness-inspired experiences for individuals, couples, and small groups. I specialize in crafting journeys that go beyond sightseeing – blending culture, connection, and comfort for travelers who crave something more intentional than the typical getaway.

My clients are often busy professionals who need a true reset – people who want their vacations to feel meaningful, not just memorable. Whether it’s a luxurious wellness retreat in the Mediterranean, an elevated cruise through lesser-known ports, or a thoughtfully designed small-group experience, I take care of every detail so they can simply show up and enjoy.

Peavy Travel Co. combines my years in travel and tourism PR with my passion for wellness as a yoga teacher. I know how to tell a story through travel – and how to create space for people to slow down and reconnect. Every journey I plan is meant to feel effortless, meaningful, and rejuvenating.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud that Peavy Travel Co. represents ease, authenticity, and heart. My goal is for every traveler to return home feeling lighter, more connected, and a little more in love with the world and with themselves.

What makes you happy?
My family makes me happiest, especially my kids. They’re little sponges, soaking up the world with so much curiosity and joy. Seeing things through their eyes reminds me how special everyday moments can be and why it’s so important to keep exploring, learning, and appreciating the world around us.
