Today we’d like to introduce you to Ralph Gregory Jr.
Hi Ralph, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’m the owner and designer of RJ Brands Customs. My brand started in October of 2016 and I began creating art in my father’s garage. I remember taking a black trench coat and turning it into a paint-splatter Picasso creation and wore to a local fashion show at the Hilton. My style and the trench received many compliments the whole night. I began networking and I started putting together collections and started getting messages and calls to showcase my bold pieces in lots of fashion shows getting my name out there. Next thing you know, I branched out of Virginia and started doing out-of-town fashion weeks, being featured on international covers and even styling celebrities. I thank God for the growth over the years and where I started.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Being an independent artist is a smooth road and also hard at the same time. Whenever you’re passionate about something and believe in your craft, obstacles are thrown at you along the way; it’s how you receive those obstacles and how you overcome them.
We’ve been impressed with RJ Brands Customs LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My brand, “RJ BRANDS CUSTOMS” is not only a fashion brand, it’s a movement and it has a story. RJ Brands Customs is here to promote self-confidence, higher self-esteem, self-validation/love, changing lives, how not to be afraid to stand out and not be what everyday society wants you to be, and be unapologetic about who God blessed you to be. I want people not only to wear my pieces because it’s trendy and it’s different but most importantly feel great about what they wearing. I think whenever being an artist and entrepreneur, your work of art should always have a meaning in your life and a story to help and inspire the next person. It’s not always about the money and wealth; it’s about loving what you’re passionate about, staying consistent, and inspiring and saving souls with your art.
What does success mean to you?
Success have many different meanings. I look at success as accomplishing any goals you set for yourself whether it’s small or big goals. Your a success when you wake up every day doing what you love to do and remaining consistent to get to where you wanna be. Success can mean being confident within and not losing focus. Success is also pouring back into the world and making a difference in people’s lives and in the industry with your art and creations.
