Hi S. Orinthia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m S. Orinthia Duncan; Mother, Wife, Daughter, Sister, and Boss Lady, born to hardworking Caribbean parents who raised me with a strong foundation in faith, family, and entrepreneurship. From an early age, I watched my parents turn ideas into income with limited resources but limitless vision. That planted a seed in me that would eventually blossom into a deep passion for systems, strategy, and service.
My journey into entrepreneurship began with a desire to help others get organized, automate their business backends, and stop drowning in to-do lists. That mission led me to start SOAD Masters Inc., my coaching and business systems strategy brand, where I support entrepreneurs, especially women of color, in building businesses that honor who they are and how they want to live.
From there, I launched MetaKonnects™, an all-in-one AI-powered business and marketing automation platform designed to give small business owners access to the same tools used by major companies, without the overwhelming price tag or tech confusion. It’s a platform that brings together websites, funnels, automation, CRM, reputation management, AI tools, content planning, and so much more in one streamlined place.
My third venture, Virtual Assistance 101, emerged out of my desire to bridge the gap between skilled virtual assistants and the businesses that need them. What started as a simple staffing solution has evolved into a thriving agency that matches world-class VAs with visionary entrepreneurs who are ready to scale.
Through it all, I remain grounded in my roots, committed to building generational wealth, and deeply passionate about helping others succeed, not just in business, but in life.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely not, but every bump in the road taught me something vital. Being a mother, wife, daughter, sister, and CEO means wearing many hats, often all at once. Balancing my deep passion for entrepreneurship with my responsibilities to my family has been one of the most ongoing challenges. I’ve navigated seasons of burnout, financial strain, and growing pains in leadership.
There were moments when I questioned if I was truly equipped to keep going, especially while building MetaKonnects™ and expanding Virtual Assistance 101™ across multiple countries. The tech industry doesn’t always make space for women like me, Black, Caribbean, and bold, but I made space for myself anyway.
One of the hardest lessons was learning to lead a team while still healing from personal losses and setbacks. I’ve had to rebuild, more than once. But every hardship refined my vision, stretched my faith, and made me more intentional about building a business that honors who I am and how I want to live.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I believe that luck is often the intersection where preparation meets opportunity. While I can acknowledge moments that may seem like “good luck” from the outside, being in the right room at the right time, connecting with a client just when they needed my help, or having a mentor drop powerful wisdom in passing, I also know that I put in the consistent work that made those moments matter.
On the other hand, I’ve experienced what some might perceive as “bad luck”: unexpected losses, broken systems, unrecovered invoices, and team dynamics that drained more than they delivered. But even those experiences became lessons that sharpened my boundaries, strengthened my leadership, and clarified my vision.
So while I honor the presence of divine timing and unseen blessings, I credit faith, resilience, strategy, and alignment as the true forces behind my progress. Luck may nudge the door open, but it’s my job to sashay through that bad boy ready to go.
