Exploring Life & Business with Shaneé Mccambry of Novae

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shaneé Mccambry

Hi Shaneé, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Sure. I will try to make it as detailed but as short as I possibly can because it is a story within itself. So, I was born and raised in Los Angeles the first few years of my life, but when my parents separated, my mom moved us to the small town of Madison, Georgia. This dual upbringing is why I call myself a Cali-Georgian.

Growing up in a single-mother household was challenging, but I was incredibly fortunate to have the support of my grandmother, uncles, and extended family. Even though my dad was far away, he remained a constant presence in my life, and I have fond memories of spending time with him and my sisters. My aunt also lived in California, and I also spent a great deal of time with my aunt and cousins.

Despite facing adversity, including a traumatic childhood experience, I learned the importance of resilience and perseverance. My parents instilled in me a strong work ethic, a love for learning, and a passion for helping others. My mother’s work ethic instilled in me to always find my strength and to work hard for whatever it is that I wanted, no matter if it was easy or if I felt it was out of my reach. My dad’s service in the Air Force and subsequent career at Northwest Airlines, which then turned into Delta Airlines, sparked my love of travel and cultural exploration.

I attended Georgia Southern University and started my college career with a focus on Mass Communication and Web Design, but a few years into college, I changed my major to Middle Grades Education. Unfortunately, I had to leave college for financial and personal health reasons with only one semester left in my college career. During this time, I had to do some serious soul searching, decided to reignite my passion for acting. I began attending an acting and production school in downtown Atlanta, and also found an opportunity that educated me on becoming an entrepreneur. All of this fed into my passion for helping and pouring into others. During that time, I met my now-husband, Reco McCambry, got married, went back to Georgia Southern University, and graduated with my BS in Middle Grades Education. While still being an entrepreneur, I embarked on a career in education and became a middle school educator and also coached cheerleading and track and field.

Throughout my career as an entrepreneur, I have realized the profound importance of empowering women. My social media platforms and blog are dedicated to spreading positivity and inspiring others. Additionally, I host the two-day women’s empowerment conference, “Women that Win,” which focuses on faith, business success principles, mental health, financial literacy, personal growth, and more.

My goal is to encourage women to prioritize self-care, pursue their dreams, and become the best versions of themselves. As a mother of two young daughters, I strive to be a positive role model who embodies strength, resilience, and a love for life. I am currently the Chief Operating Officer for Novae, which is an INC. 5000 company, a member of the International Association of Women, 100 Women In Finance, and Dell Women’s Entrepreneur Network, and I been featured in Yahoo! Finance, Black Enterprise, VoyageATL, Bold Journey, Who’s Who In Black Atlanta, and more. I recently was awarded “The Future is Female Impact Award” and began a new author. I released my first book and guided journal titled, “Perfectly Imperfect: Unleashing Your Purpose after Pain” and Perfectly Imperfect: Unleashing Your Purpose after Pain Guided Journal.”

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Oh, it definitely has not been a smooth road. I even discuss some of these struggles in my book, “Perfectly Imperfect: Unleashing Your Purpose after Pain.” I was molested as a little girl, was told I would not be able to have children because of the molestation, I battled with self-esteem and self-worth challenges, and I lost my first pregnancy due to miscarriage. And that is to name a few.

These were all dark times and heartbreaking experiences that tested my resilience and my faith, but eventually I emerged from them stronger and more determined. This also highlighted a passion, and what I feel is one of my God given purposes, which is empowering, uplifting, and inspiring women.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
Wow, I do not know where to start! I have had so many people that have played a big role in my success, whether directly or indirectly.

I’d have to start with my mom, Pamela Binion; granny, Ruth Binion; and my late aunt, Ann Laura Stinson. I can’t thank them enough for showing me the power of strength, resilience, and hard work, even when things were tough. My father, David Bailey, who taught me to find joy in life, see the world, continue to learn, and be proud of my heritage. They all taught me the importance of having faith no matter what.

My siblings, Mary, Shawn, and Monta, and my niece, Antoinette, for loving me in their own special way and being there for me whenever I needed and having non-judgemental listening ears. My best friends since college, DeAndrea, Tori, and Denise, for showing me that my voice matters and it is ok to choose myself and what makes me happy. They have been supportive and also made me feel accepted for my authentic self.

My children, Reco Jr., Raegan, Rylee, and my heavenly angel baby, because being a mommy and knowing that they are counting on me gives me something like a supernatural drive that is indescribable. They are watching, and I have to remind myself of that.

My husband, Reco McCambry, because he helped me see the potential in myself when I did not see it. Reminding me and motivating me to go after my heart’s desires and what my passion and purpose are. He also joined in on my love for travel and the importance of making lasting memories.
