Today we’d like to introduce you to Shavone Grayson.
Shavone, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve always been fascinated by natural hair ever since I could remember. When I was younger, my mom used to talk about how she wanted hair own salon and even went to cosmetology school, but never got around to making it happen. The name was supposed to be Forget Me Knot Salon, so I took the name and made something with it (I’m still gone get her that salon). In 2016, I started making different conditioners, treatments and oils for my hair because my curl pattern was everywhere. Once I started to notice a difference in my growth and texture of my hair, I shared my products to my close friends and family they also experienced positive results, so I decided to make a batch and sell it. I made my first batch for the public (Shampoo, conditioner, leave-in conditioner and hair growth oil) in 2019 and I received both good and bad reviews, but that didn’t stop me. I revised and came back harder got my LLC in 2020 and re-dropped. So far, my business has been doing good just time to take it up a notch. My goal is to have all-natural products for your mind, body, and soul. I offer all your hair needs from Hair Mask to Flaxseed Gel, I even have my own acrylic color and Whipped Body Butter and SeaMoss Gel for your body and so much more.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Over these last two years, it’s been very difficult trying to get new people to use my products because everyone’s very picky about their hair. So I started doing natural hair and using all my products when doing it, so they can see how my products make there hair smell and feel. I’ve even had to use my last to make products so I could make more money, but it’s all been worth it.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I make my own Natural products by hand with all organic and natural ingredients. I’m proud of myself for never giving up even if I go a week without selling. Always pushing forward. I doing all sorts of research before I even make a product and always test everything on myself before selling. This year I will be offering a different deal everyday and will be offering more hair services. Soon you’ll see me in your local stores.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Do your research and go for it. Make sure whatever you do, you love it cause if you love it, it will never feel like work. Never feel like you can’t do something. Never be afraid to ask questions or for help.
