Exploring Life & Business with Stephanie Norton of Delta-B Formalwear

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Norton.

Hi Stephanie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My background is engineering and I worked in the automotive industry for 12 years where I was a Quality engineer turned Manager. Last January I woke up with a thought that Carrollton does not have a prom dress store. I didn’t really know why I had this thought because at the time I had a 2 year girl (now 3) and I was pregnant with my son (now 11 months). So I took this thought to the Lord in prayer and felt Him tell me to open a prom dress shop and sale affordable dresses. I immediately took this to my husband and we agreed to walk in obedience and trust the Lord. We began researching and building this business all while working a full time job and having 2 children. In December, I quit my job as the Quality Manager as instructed by the Lord to prepare for this new adventure. We opened up on January 1, 2026 and have not slowed down since. It has been a true blessing to be able to spend more time with my children while learning the ins and outs of running a business. My goal for this business is to ease the financial burden that the prom season can bring to the parents while also making the girls feel exceptionally beautiful and spreading the love of Christ to everyone who steps foot through the doors of this building.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The biggest challenge we faced was never owning a business before, so we had no idea where to start. But little by little and step by step we pieced together the puzzle of starting a business. There were documents needed and insurance required, but you couldn’t get it without an alarm system, so we stayed busy making sure to get everything in order to have a smooth opening. Obviously, we’ve learned a lot to be able to continue on a smoother path, but the best thing we could have ever done was just start without being afraid.

We’ve been impressed with Delta-B Formalwear, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a formalwear store that specializes in prom and homecoming dresses. We are new so our goal is to bring different styles and brands so each girl stands out instead of blending in while also being able to afford the price. Our dresses range from $180-650 with the average cost being $360, so no breaking the bank to be able to afford a dress. We want every girl and parent to feel like they made the best decision by choosing to shop with us.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Making sure I never lose sight of the mission…to sale affordable dresses to all girls of every shape and size.
