Exploring Life & Business with Superline Wholesale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Superline Wholesale. Them and their team share their story with us below:

In 1992, Superline Wholesale started to supply the local flea markets and small mom & pop retail stores with urban clothing. They had the traditional wholesale model where only licensed businesses could access their price points and their products. However, as the landscape of the apparel industry changed, they brought in younger management to bring in new ideas and new concepts. As of recently, Superline Wholesale is now the go-to vendor for all things wholesale basics. Unlike traditional vendors, we do not have any minimums and offer wholesale pricing to the general public.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Like any business, there are tons of roadblocks along the way.

When we brought in new management, there was a clash of ideas and concepts between the older and younger managers. It wasn’t easy to implement new ideas but over time, results and success helped persuade the older managers.

Most wholesale vendors if not all wholesale vendors, do not offer walk-in business because it is difficult to manage inventory and manage retail customers. Being that we were the first ones to allow the general public to walk in and purchase products at wholesale pricing, there was a large learning curve. Over the last couple of years, we’ve developed a system that works and pioneered the way for other wholesalers to imitate.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We are the first wholesale vendor to offer wholesale pricing to the general public. We play a critical role in helping creatives and brand owners become legitimate business owners. Unlike other wholesale vendors, we have more fashion-forward products and still offer them at unbelievable wholesale prices so that people can decorate them and sell them at a mark-up.

We are most proud of the impact we’ve been able to make on the community of creatives. It’s crazy to see some of our customers go from working at QT to running their clothing brand as a career. There’s nothing like going to sleep at night knowing that we were able to help someone accomplish their goals and their dreams.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
A lot of our most successful concepts and business moves came from failing. Our management actually ran an unsuccessful brand before running Superline Wholesale. During those times of failure, they were able to learn what worked and what didn’t work. They then applied those lessons to changing the Superline business.
