Hi Tamatrion, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
The concept for Sublime Juicery started with a vision. I studied Biology, pre-dentistry at the University of New Orleans with the hopes of becoming a dentist. As a first-generation college student, I was extremely stressed while working full-time in hospitality as a front desk clerk and pursuing my studies full-time as well. It was during my senior year of undergraduate that I began to experience signs of hair loss due to stress. A visit to my dermatologist led to a diagnosis of alopecia areata. As a woman, that rocked my universe but for all the right reasons. At the time, I was under a lot of stress and this season helped me to turn my life around. It was a lifestyle change for me. My focus shifted and from then on, I began to pay more attention to what I was feeding myself on all levels, not just food.
I was researching another business venture at the time when I dreamt of Sublime Juicery and what it could be. I had only seen the word “sublime” on random band t-shirts prior to this, so I immediately googled it. Once I read the definition, I knew that it was perfect and that it encompassed everything I strive to share in this world through my gifts. I was already juicing for myself personally but following that, I took the rest of my studies to truly focus on the healing properties of fruits, vegetables, and herbs. Within that same year, I lost my car and apartment back home in New Orleans due to the flooding of Hurricane Ida, so I took that as an opportunity to relocate to Georgia near some family, and it was here I began building my business.
I never imagined that my own adversity would bring light to my purpose, but it has done that and much more. In essence, our slogan is ‘Live Sublimely’, but I always refer to it as ‘Live Sublimely, the lifestyle’ because it transcends beyond juicing. It is about leading a fruitful, inspired life that empowers others to be the best versions of themselves in every way. I have the juice and the squeeze, but you have the willpower and the way to shine your own light by living as your most authentic self, starting with your health.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Building my business was tough at first. Leaving my comfort zone was blatantly uncomfortable for me, but now I find that it’s much more enjoyable than it was when I was starting out as an entrepreneur. That is not to say that my business runs smoothly all the time. I am still learning and fine-tuning my own processes. However, all in all I am much more satisfied with how it is progressing and even more excited to witness the growth.
Reflecting back on where I started, I had to get out of my own way. The familiarity of comfort and social media were the biggest obstacles that hindered me from finding joy in my work. There were times when I overcomplicated small matters for the sake of perfection and the fear of failure until I accepted the ebbs and flows. It’s easy to get caught up in the idea of ‘microwaveable success’, but for the most meaningful things to happen, they must be nurtured over time. Another struggle I faced was seeking support and approval outside of myself. I had to learn that my vision was unique and mine alone and to appreciate it in its entirety. The support and the people will come organically, but the vision will always be mine to create and bring to life through my own drive, skills, and efforts.
We’ve been impressed with Sublime Juicery, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Sublime Juicery is an e-commerce juice bar providing a digitally convenient experience to shop for high-quality products. We curate 100% organic cold-pressed juices and wellness shots. Our focus is to enlighten our communities through the avenues of health, wellness, and outreach events that not only educate but uplift every tastebud we encounter. I specialize in the creation of organic cold-pressed juices and wellness products that are nutrient-dense and balanced. Each 16oz bottle contains freshly squeezed, in-season produce and provides the body with over 2lbs of organic goodness in each serving. Sublime Juicery focuses its efforts on educating the masses on the true value of health. Incorporating fruits and vegetables into the daily diet does not have to be bland, and our menu shows just that!
Our bodies have evolved from the times of sugar-filled diets. There is a need for healthier alternatives on the market. Every day, more people are turning away from the cans of soda or the ‘fruit punch’ labeled beverage that has very little to no actual fruit in it. I am proud to be part of the solution. We are passionate about people. We are nothing without each other; and if we aren’t in the position to take care of ourselves and not only optimize but prioritize our health, then we can’t show up as the best versions of ourselves as individuals or for our own community. As a brand, we are most proud of the overwhelmingly positive feedback we have received from our community. I personally worked on each menu recipe for two years before anyone was able to view anything we provided. We always appreciate feedback and consider it an honor to receive it. We are currently working on a new project, focusing on curating a brand-new specialty menu to help you heal health ailments naturally through nature’s bounty. These recipes are designed to reduce blood glucose levels, alleviate eczema breakouts, soothe inflammation, and rebalance hormones in children and adults. More healing recipes will be released in 2023!
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
My legacy and leaving a lasting impression on the world are the most significant things to me. As a New Orleans native, I have seen firsthand how food unites people from all walks of life. Therefore, I find it truly inspiring to be able to do that in my own way through juicing. Sublime Juicery’s core values are health, wellness, and community. In everything that I do, I strive to be intentional, and my work is no exception. It is imperative that I utilize my biology background and knowledge of the human body to create equally healthy and delicious recipes that heal from within and out. It is important to me to spread the message of health and wellness to all who are open to receiving it.
