Entrepreneurship has always been a natural path for me. After my husband was laid off from his moving job, we saw an opportunity and decided to take control of our own destiny. We realized that we had the knowledge and expertise to start our own moving business, and that’s when our journey began.
We started small by moving just one person from a neighborhood. But that single move turned out to be the catalyst for our success. The customer was so satisfied with our service that they recommended us to everyone in their neighborhood. Word of mouth quickly spread, and before we knew it, we had a steady stream of customers coming to us for their moving needs.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
In the beginning, we heavily relied on referrals to generate business. While this worked well initially, we faced a significant challenge when winter arrived. Moving activities tend to slow down during the winter months, and as a result, our business experienced a noticeable decline in demand.
To overcome this obstacle, we had to think creatively and adapt our services. We decided to open a new section of our moving company that focused on local deliveries and installations. This allowed us to diversify our offerings and maintain a steady flow of work, even during the slower winter season.
