Hi Terri, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Terrific Treats started, like most big ideas, with a passion! Driven by the love of baking for others for holidays and birthdays, I set out to follow my passion and start my own baking business in July 2020. And while I’ve faced my own unique set of trials and tribulations in the last two years, I’ve allowed myself to treat every challenge as a learning experience, doing my best to improve wherever possible. Dozens of craft shows, conventions and Church Events later, I’m nothing if not proud of how far Terrific Treats FL has come! There’s still so much to learn and lots to explore in the world of baking of course, but knowing that I’m already making a difference in my community through sweet treats is all the validation I could ask for.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s worth mentioning that I often times find difficulty in running everything on my own! I started the business alone, and to this day I have been running Terrific Treats as a one-woman baking operation. It can be overwhelming at times admittedly, but I hope that as we continue to grow, I can build a strong (but sweet) TTFL team and share both the workload and the glory with them.
However, of all the challenges I’ve faced since starting Terrific Treats, losing my Grandfather in November 2020 was definitely the hardest.
Every household has its own unique “situation”, and ours was without exception. My Grandpa was one stoic consistency in what felt like a difficult living situation. His work ethic was unparalleled, and he worked up until he physically could not anymore to keep a roof over our heads as my siblings and I were growing up.
So when he passed away that November, at first, it was difficult for myself and my family to find the motivation to do much of anything. But oddly enough, I also felt inspired by his work ethic and did my best to continue working harder not only on my business but in other facets of my life in aspiration of him.

Terrific Treats FL is a cottage food baking operation serving the Broward County area and beyond!
We specialize in slinging out unique, gourmet cookies that take inspiration from popular food trends, nostalgic recipes, as well as geek / nerdy culture, We aim to bring you not just a cookie but a fond memory, whether it be reminiscent of something out of your own home kitchen, or a euphoric nostalgia trip to your favorite treat as a child, we aim to ignite the brain with pure joy with each recipe we produce.
And while we’re proud to offer pickup and delivery services in Broward County, as well as catering, storefront and bulk options, we’re proud to offer shipping to anywhere in the mainland US, with several ways to order cookies straight to your doorstep!
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
It’s tough to say. I’ve definitely had my share of good and bad fortune without a doubt. And while I can’t deny the existence of good or bad luck, I can tell you that I don’t live my life with the mindset that I’ll be lucky or unlucky enough. I have a firm belief that I can forge my own future through hard work, persistence, and faith. Anyone with perseverance, drive and a firm trust in God can get through any bout of bad luck.
It’s in the way you respond to “bad luck”, and being aware of the opportunities of “good luck” that decide your success!
