Hi Tiffany, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My path into entrepreneurship was never part of my initial plan. Growing up, I was taught to aim for a secure 9-to-5 job and remain there until retirement. The idea of entrepreneurship wasn’t even on my radar until my sister, driven by her passion, launched a tax business and invited me to be part of it. Feeling both intrigued and uncertain, I took a leap of faith and joined her. At that time, I had been working at a factory for a decade, but I decided to leave that job and take on a part-time position at the post office, where I was guaranteed only one day of work each week. This move allowed me to dedicate more time to help my sister’s company, Xpert Tax Service, flourish.
Being a witness to her determination and witnessing her numerous successes in the world of entrepreneurship awakened something in me. I realized that if she could achieve her dreams, then I too had the potential to create something meaningful. Over the years, I became her trusted right-hand, actively supporting her in launching and maintaining several thriving businesses. One of our ventures has even reached the remarkable milestone of 17 years in business.
Through these experiences, I gained valuable insights and skills that served as a strong foundation for my own aspirations. With newfound confidence and knowledge, I finally took the lead and founded the Wright Way Insurance Agency.
Has it been a smooth road? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No, it has definitely not been a smooth road. In the early stages, my struggles mainly revolved around confidence in myself and my abilities. Marketing myself to others, gaining trust, and attracting clients required a strong belief in what I had to offer. Additionally, as I took on managerial roles, I faced the challenge of being a leader. I must confess that being an effective leader and mastering delegation have been ongoing struggles for me.
Additionally, financial challenges have been a constant companion on the journey. The flow of money in the business world can be quite unpredictable, resulting in periods of both prosperity and adversity. During lean times, it becomes essential to think outside the box and find inventive ways to sustain.
Throughout this journey, I’ve encountered obstacles that tested my resolve and pushed me to grow. Each struggle has taught me valuable lessons, and I’ve learned to adapt and persevere despite the difficulties.
