Exploring Life & Business with Tobias Jarmon of TB The Tonsorial Beast LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tobias Jarmon.

Hi Tobias, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
When I was a kid, I didn’t know barbering would become my life—I just knew I loved being around it. That love started when I moved to Atlanta in seventh grade, right before eighth grade ended and ninth grade was coming up. There was a barbershop up the street from my house, and I started walking there every day. I didn’t go just to get a haircut—I went to watch, to learn, and to be useful. I swept floors, ran to the restaurant next door to grab food for the barbers, and they let me keep the change. That little change rather It was coins or 1 dollar or more meant a lot to me, but what meant more was watching people walk in one way and walk out feeling brand new. That’s when barbering grabbed my heart.

Back then, basketball was my Plan A. Barbering was my Plan B—just in case. I played a year of college basketball, but when things went left and I got blackballed trying to transfer, life forced me to look at that Plan B differently. I moved back to my hometown, Greenville, North Carolina, and stepped into barber school and later my dad’s barbershop—not just as his son, but as an apprentice. I went to school, worked under my dad, and earned my barber’s license after putting in 1528 hrs in school . It took longer than it should have because of COVID, but I stayed patient and stayed focused.

I served my apprenticeship under my dad, learning more than just how to cut hair—he taught me discipline, consistency, and pride in the craft along with my barber school teacher. Over time, I ventured out on my own. Now I’m in a suite of my own, doing what truly makes me happy—blessing people through my clippers and through real conversations. I’ve even built my own product line, something I once only dreamed about. I travel back and forth between here and Atlanta, cutting hair, building relationships, and growing my brand.

I’m about five years into this journey now, and I’m still learning, still sharpening my skills, still chasing perfection. I thank God for giving me the gift, the vision, and the drive to stick with it. It’s a blessing to wake up every day doing what I love—and even more of a blessing that it supports my family and the life I want to live. What started as sweeping floors for whatever amount of change turned into a purpose, and I wouldn’t trade this journey for anything.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Covid happen during my time in barber school which prolonged me finishing in the time frame I was supposed to .

Not having a job during barber school was challenging knowing I had certain bills to buy I wasn’t working so I could get through barber school as fast as I could but my barber instructor helped me as much as he could and let me cut some people that booked directly with me full price to make ends meet and my dad let me cut in the shop on the weekends sometime .

I went through a time when I first finish barber school I hit the ground running I grew my clientele fast and along the way I lost a lot of them due to going through a deep depression which caused me to have bad energy when I needed It good and cost me clients but once I got through It I’ve been going up every since.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I’m a God-fearing 28-year-old, married father of two. I wear many hats—barber, assistant varsity girls coach, photographer, streamer, and Certified Peer Support Specialist—but barbering is my main calling and purpose.I’m best known for my God-gifted barbering skills. I specialize in not just cutting hair, but making people feel better about themselves before they leave my chair. My versatility, attention to detail, and ability to really listen set me apart. Some people don’t just need a haircut—they need to be heard, and I create that space. I’m most proud of every haircut I put into the world, because I know I’ve given my absolute best in each one. My brand is built on excellence, care, and faith. I have a product line called “Truly Blessed” that includes beard and hair oil, pomade, and a detoxing foam for both beard and hair. I also offer full-service barber experiences—facials, wave treatments, hot steam towels, and more—everything you see on IG and TikTok that catches your eye dealing with barbering is exactly what I bring to the chair.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
Only dislike about the city is really just the traffic everything else I can deal with . But the city is where I found my love for wings specifically hot, lemon pepper sprinkle wings . I went to the Best high school in GA Miller Grove
