Today we’d like to introduce you to Tonya Cole.
Hi Tonya, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was born in Luverne, AL, I moved to Montgomery, AL in late 2000 where I have resided ever since. I am the mother of 2 adult children and guardian to my 11-year-old nephew. I have a full-time 9-5 job Mon-Fri and I work my businesses after hours and on the weekends because I have a website where the orders can be placed, and I mail them or do local pickup. I originally started selling women clothing in 2015 I called my brand “Boss Ladii’s Closet” where I never properly structured that brand the name was acquired by someone else before I could trademark it. I stopped being active after that until around 2019, when I started “The Bosses Closet” it’s been a bit of a roller coaster in the women’s apparel/ accessories business. I started “The Elite Brand LLC” in 2020 and although it hasn’t been all good days, I wouldn’t change my decision to start my company no matter what! As of today, I own 2 businesses “The Razzle Dazzle Accessory Bar (rebranded in 2023) & The Elite Photography” I enjoy working with others and being around like-minded people. My hobbies are traveling with my family and friends, watching sports (mainly college football) trying different foods, and just having fun because life is too short not too! Today I am working and booking as many events and photography jobs as I can because of the goals I’ve set for myself for 2023. I love what I do, and I know that my businesses will prosper because of my dedication to being more proactive in the way I manage those businesses today!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My struggles along the way were mostly self-inflicted due to not having proper knowledge of how to run a business. But I’ve joined groups that break down how to do everything properly and taken so many different classes to get the fundamentals and I used that knowledge to get in a position to build this brand until it is a global brand… I’m capable of that!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about The Razzle Dazzle Accessory Bar?
The Razzle Dazzle Accessory Bar is an accessory business. We sell a bit of everything, but mostly women accessories, such as earrings, bracelets, bangles, sunglasses, hats, etc. I believe that I set myself apart from others because I pride in finding unique pieces from vendors that not every other accessory company my have. I’m proud that despite the many obstacles and breaks I’ve taken, I never gave up on the passion that’s in my heart, and that will always be to help other women feel more confident in who they are by helping them look their very best! I want everyone to know that my brand, “The Razzle Dazzle Accessory Bar” will always stand behind the products that we sell and will always be there to assist them if they should ever have an issue with anything they’ve purchased from us because it’s service during, but most importantly after the sell that makes for repeat customers!
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
I’ve learned lots of hard lessons, but the most important one is to never do business with those who you can not trust 100% with your brand! This lesson came with attempting to hire brand ambassadors (3 to be exact) to represent my brand because in that process, I lost lots of money and inventory by doing so.
