Exploring Life & Business with Tricia and Timoy Bennett of Bennett’s Kitchen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tricia and Timoy Bennett.

Hi Tricia and Timoy, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Bennett’s Kitchen was established in 2015 in NYC when my husband and I discovered our true love and passion for cooking but more importantly cooking what represents our culture (Jamaica). On our spare time we both enjoyed being in the kitchen together creating some of our favorite comfort dishes. Growing up in Jamaica and in a Jamaican household we often watched family members in the kitchen preparing Jamaican comfort dishes. We often assisted family members in the kitchen at young ages by peeling potatoes, carrots and kneading dumpling etc.

Where we are today is rooted from our childhood. I (Tricia) began preparing dinner for my family at age 12 and journeyed to college majoring in Culinary Arts. In Jamaica Timoy (my husband) grew his own vegetables, spices and created his own seasonings. Together we have used LOVE as our first ingredient in both our seasonings and food.

Bennett’s Kitchen Seasonings, which includes our (Jerk Seasoning, Green Seasoning, Curry Powder and Jerk Sauce) was established in 2021. We felt as if something was missing “a specific taste” a taste of our own, A taste that belonged to us. A taste of our culture “Jamaica” that is authentic and rich in taste.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The road has been far from smooth for Bennett’s Kitchen. We left New York for a better opportunity for our business. Being consistent and creative has been very difficult especially when balancing demanding work schedules and a family that includes young children. However, we keep pushing because our Faith is strong and we know that nothing in life comes easy. We also want our children to know that anything they want in life they have to work hard for it.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Bennett’s Kitchen?
Bennett’s Kitchen is a family owned catering business. We specialize in authentic Jamaican Cuisine , and we are known for our Jerk Chicken and Rasta Pasta. What sets us apart from others is we don’t just cook because we know how to, we cook because of the excitement and satisfaction that our customers experience when they dig in. It’s all about satisfaction for us. There’s nothing more satisfying than craving a particular food and when you eat, it exceeds your expectations. And that’s what we’re all about, exceeding our customers expectations.

Bennett’s Kitchen is a family owned catering business and our goal is to open a Jamaica/ Caribbean restaurant.

At this time we’re most proud of our seasonings, not only do we get to please peoples taste buds with our food but we’re using our handmade, all natural seasonings while doing so.
