Hi Tytiana, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Back in 2020, I was working for Walmart something in my heart was telling me this was not where I was meant to be working 12hr shifts was not the lifestyle I envisioned for myself so I was on a search to what I wanted to do my first business was selling eyewear I quickly realized that wasn’t for me. My next business was I wanted a boutique but something in my heart kept prolonging me from starting it up so I was at a crossroads. Then at the worst time possible, I lost my job at Walmart and I knew if I was going to make something happen, it had to be now. So one day I was sitting with an old friend of mine and she showed me this young lady name Lori Dior I had never heard of her but this girl had it going on. It was as if it was an instant click I was sold so I did a little more research on her and seen she offered body sculpting courses but I didn’t just want to stop at her so I did further research although Lori was the one who inspired me to get into the business I did not take her course from her but I do plan on taking one of her courses one day
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
ABSOLUTELY! If anyone tell you this is easy it’s not you have to be very strong-minded getting into this industry. Not everyone is going to support you. Just because if you think you have a million-dollar business not everyone will this is a business of convincing people it’s worth it. I started my business without a plan for the first couple of months I was doing services free when I put a price on it no one was willing to pay but I had to take some losses and do free services so people would see my worth even still with me charging it wasn’t a lot I still had to low ball myself. The biggest lesson and also blessing was me opening up a suite without any clientele it was a blessing because for the most part I had already saved and started buying a lot of things for my suites before I even considered a suite then the lesson came in when I would go sometimes months without any clients it would be times I would end up having a client I would go spider webs hard start to build up I could have let all those things discourage me from running my business sometimes I would have thoughts of omg I just paid rent for a space I’m not even using or even questioned if I was even making the right decision a lot of people told me I was crazy for doing what I did but I don’t look at it that way most people would have folded in my position but I didn’t and come Jan. 3, 2023 would make a whole year in my suite I’m so proud of me.
As you know, we’re big fans of Build A Body Workshop. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Hello, my name is Tytiana Jackson CEO of Build A Body Workshop I specialize in Body contouring. I am located in the Jonesboro, GA area. I like to think of myself as the plus-size body sculptor. What sets me apart is sometimes you have women coming in there that look just like me and the comfort is seen on their faces when they see this short chunky girl smiling ear to ear greeting them, saying “hello beautiful ….” as they walk in making them laugh feeling comfortable I am such an easy person to talk to I will have you talking about a situation that has nothing to do with me and be all into it as if I know what or who you are talking about. I am like a therapy session while also feeding you with words of encouragement meant some people come in saying they want a silent treatment until they feel my vibe now we sitting here talking about lil pookie from down the street and jamming to some old school R&B.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I say take it! Don’t ever go through life thinking what if. I had someone very close to me tell me how are you going to help someone else lose weight big as you is and the proceeded to laugh in my face. That constantly replayed in my head that wasn’t even a thought in my head I was over 400 pounds I lost 100 and still currently losing and the only thing on my mind was man I can’t wait to make women feel good about themselves to share my story and they share those I could have let that one comment mess up my whole vision but I didn’t take the risk who cares what others think they’re just mad they didn’t take the risk you did.
