Today we’d like to introduce you to Wayne Hall.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am a radio host and educator. My journey began in Jamaica where I attended the GC Foster College of PE and Sports. in 1991. I was the Caldon Merchant Bank teacher of the year recipient in Jamaica. Interestingly enough I have also been a teacher of the year at Pharr Elementary School in the 2022-23 school year in Gwinnett County. After graduating and spending three years in the classroom, I then migrated to live with my wife Michelle Hanniford-Hall in New York March of 1995. On migrating I tried different areas of employment. I completed the preclinical to physical therapy and was placed on a 2-year waiting list for the clinical phase. I decided I couldn’t put life on hold for 2 years, so I pursued a business degree during that time. I worked as a substitute in the New York Education system but was not fond of it. I decided to stick with business. I had some success in different capacities such as being a production manager and a general manager at a supplier of natural ingredients. During 9-11 we lived in New York and experienced first-hand what many went through. In 2003 we relocated to the Metro Atlanta area. We lived in an apartment in Clarkston. Later we would move to Lawrenceville Ga in Gwinnett County. Eventually I returned to education and also began hosting The Wayne Hall Show. I decided I wanted to focus on students with autism and pursued a Ma degree in special education focusing on autism. I then went on to become a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst after 5 years as a Registered Behavior Technician.
The Wayne Hall Show began on September 5, 2012. I created the motto and now hash tag #whereinformationmeetsmusic. It has developed into a well-recognized and respected platform within the Caribbean community. On Wednesday nights I stream a simulcasted live show that is aired on platforms on the dial in FIT FM 96.7 Ja, Fresh FM Radio London, Linkage Radio 101.75 New York and Hype FM South Florida. It is also aired on Clarke TV Network, Viscosityblend.com, islandworldwide.com, youchooseradio.com and energyradione.com. We also stream live on Tik Tok, Facebook, YouTube and Twitch. Our audience has grown consistently over the years on our social media pages. Collectively the show has a base of 25 thousand followers on social media alone. This doesn’t include the reach of additional groups that the platform is a member of. This makes the reach into the millions worldwide.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey has had its fair share of highs and lows for me. It is a part time venture and as such it has mainly been a one man show. Remaining on air consistently while meeting other career and family commitments has been the biggest challenge. I produce and host each show, and I am also the technical personnel during the 2 live hours on-air. When I first began some individuals didn’t think it would last because of the fact that it is not the most lucrative field and requires a lot. The platform at times, as had to pass on events it would love to have covered simply because of conflict with other personal obligations. 13 years later I am happy to say that we are as strong a platform as we have ever been. With growing audiences and living true to our motto ‘where information meets music”.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Wayne Hall Show LLC?
The Wayne Hall Show is a Caribbean based media platform. It is a registered LLC since its inception in 2012. The show has a motto where information meets music. It combines music and interviews that provide opportunities for business and services to connect with a wider audience.
We take pride in our remote broadcasts that highlight business openings, promotions and sometimes with the intention of supporting causes such as relief for victims of natural disasters in the Caribbean region. As owner of the platform, I also have the opportunity to host some of the major Caribbean events such as the annual Grace Atlanta Caribbean Jerk festival, the CACAO food and music festival in Bessemer Alabama, Reggae Wine and jerk Festival and Charleston Carifest in Charleston to name a few.
The Wayne Hall Show was formed out of a need in our community to have a consistent source of information aimed at highlighting our talents, goods and services to each other. This, while also catering to our unique cultural needs musically and entertainment wise. It has served as a gateway for non-Caribbean individuals, talents, products and services to be introduced to a Caribbean audience. The e Report with Anthony Turner has been a consistent source of entertainment information. Ms. Jannice O’Shea joins me for guest appearances under the title “Let’s Talk about This”, where we would discuss topics that are pertinent to our community.
The website of The Wayne Hall Network now transmit shows from partner hosts such as the Tony Roberts Network, Orlando’s Jammins Radio, FIT FM JA 96.7 and Energyradione.com.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I like that our city is consists of a mix of a variety of cultures. It is easy to navigate, and services are of a high quality. One can live a fairly balanced life. Good for raising kids, accessing religion sports and entertainment resources. I also like the historic significance of the city in the role its citizens played in the civil rights movement.
I wish we had a better solution for homelessness. Seeing the high number of homeless individuals in some parts of the city breaks my heart.
