Hi Zion, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am the founder of ViZionary Productions (formerly known as Horizion Productions). I am a 20 years old student attending The College of Wooster in pursuit of a degree in Global Media and Digital Studies. Atlanta has been home for me all of my life and I love everything about my city- the people, the food, and especially the culture.
Photography became a passion of mine during my sophomore year in high school (2018) and has developed into a business that captures moments in luxury. I remember running around school giving out free shoots to students to learn and grow in my new discovered talent. Now, I have expanded my gift to serve those in different fields and in different regions- on campus, in Atlanta, and in different cities across the nation. It has been my pleasure to create a network in Metropolitan Atlanta and serve those who have visual needs, ranging from headshots to engagement photos and even real estate photography. I enjoy providing a rare experience that caters to my clients with care, servitude and most importantly, professionalism. I aspire to build upon my established network and meet new people from different backgrounds in business, culture and different parts of the world.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road. Of course, I remember struggling as an entrepreneur and learning the importance of separating business from my personal life. It was hard to even charge $50 to students around my school because of the lack of confidence in myself and the desperation to earn whatever I could for paid shoots. Eventually, I had to become aware of my value and come to an understanding that if I did not value my work, no one else would. It was also hard being a young entrepreneur. Many people question your quality of work when you are young or try to take advantage of you if you allow them. I am grateful for these experiences, for I have learned the proper ways of dealing business and interacting with people.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a lifestyle photographer who specializes in capturing your moments in luxury. What do I mean by that? I deliver quality images to my clients and make sure I give them an experience worth remembering through great service, creativity and simplifying the solutions to their visual needs. I treat my clients with respect and most importantly, make them feel comfortable in front of the camera- whether they are new to photoshoots or are an experienced models. Through years of experience, I have learned how to talk to people and learn about them. This simple exchange of conversation really goes a long way in establishing a modest network of clients I am proud to serve.
What makes you happy?
I am happy because I can do what I love while generating a source of income. A wise man once said, “If you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life” and I am a firm believer in this statement. There is a joy that takes over me when I send my clients their final images and they are so excited and looking forward to working with me again. I love seeing the pictures on my timeline as I scroll through Instagram or when I see my picture as their new profile picture. It gives me a sense of accomplishment and that makes me happy.
