Today we’d like to introduce you to Ali’ce Haskins.
Hi Ali’ce, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey to becoming a Nurse_Haskins, a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner began over 25 years ago while training to become a Certified Nurse Assistant. This passion to serve and care for others, along with being very inquisitive about the treatment, management and outcome of physical deterioration seen in the elderly population led me on an intentional journey of furthering my education in the nursing profession.
I have always been someone who would encourage my coworkers, family and friends to think beyond today’s circumstances, reach their highest potential and never allow anything to stop them from following their DREAMS.
My dreams were to become a “Nurse Practitioner” who would change the trajectory of what the health outcomes were for my patients. I wanted my patients to feel educated, empowered and capable of caring for themselves after being in my presence. I wanted to be a change agent in the profession and I knew one day this goal would be achievable, I just didn’t know when.
After completing nursing programs inclusive of: LPN, ADN, BSN, MSN and Post Masters FNP, I shared my journey with others, the good the bad and the indifferent. The trials, tribulations and resilience needed to continue. I would often say, it matters not “Where you start, as long as the finish line remains the same”.
A passion to serve and having a “Heart for People” are what curated the brand Nurse_Haskins.
I wanted to see more celebration within the profession for who we are; and with that, I began hosting Nurse Empowerment events, Breaking the CODE into Nursing, Brunch & Learn, Nurses who know ~ panel speaking, Nurses Week Networking, A Nursing Scholarship giveaway (in honor of the life of my son) and the first time EVER inaugural “Nurses Ball” in celebration of the profession.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Wow, this journey was one that I would not change, yet I would tell anyone, “You probably met me at the end of my journey and the true test were in the middle”.
Being Nurse_Haskins ~ required from me a level of transparency and authenticity like never before. I never wanted anyone to see the success but not the struggles. I never wanted to be perceived as someone who sailed through nursing and life without any setbacks, failures or struggles.
I made a decision to peel back the layers and this allowed me to live in my truth and be present.
My biggest hurdle was being able to walk across the stage and be handed my Nurse Practitioner degree in 2017, only four months after my son was tragically killed in a car accident.
I really don’t know or understand how I had the strength or if I was truly present in the moment to be able to reflect on any of it. I only knew in that moment that my life was purposeful for another reason other than myself and I needed to continue to live in order to serve.
Nurse_Haskins the brand was birthed during a therapy session, not for notoriety or fame. I realized this calling over my life was bigger than me; this wasn’t about me and that’s the key to it all.
I am an innate educator, speaker and teacher, however it takes perseverance and resilience to bounce back after failing, and having the tenacity needed to hang in there after setbacks as well as a willingness to go through transformation of mindset to become who you are called to be.

May 14, 2022 “Nurses Celebrate in Elegance Nurses Ball” will take place.
I am so humbled by this experience to see Nurses and other healthcare professionals network, collaborate and be recognized through excellence.
This will be the FIRST time ever held in ATLANTA and I am excited to be here.
The invited speakers are phenomenal nurse leaders in the industry who have paved the way for into nurse entrepreneurship, leadership, and CEOs as well.
During the day, there will be an ALL WHITE DAY Brunch~ Nurses who Network~ we will have nurse entrepreneur vendor tables, sponsors, panel speakers and entertainment followed by the ‘A night Elegance Nurses Ball” that evening.
This is truly the experience that the profession deserves and as the founder and visionary of it all, I am truly inspired to be greater than yesterday and continue to change the culture of what NURSING looks like.
