Hidden Gems: Meet Alicia Woods

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alicia Woods.

Hi Alicia, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my blog Wine Down With Alicia in October 2020 as a passion project. My journey with wine started with going to festivals around the city. From there, I visited my first winery and got intrigued by the winemaking process. While researching and starting my journey in wine education, I realized Georgia wine and wineries weren’t being highlighted. My goal is to showcase what the south has to offer in wine. There are over 40 wineries in Georgia and they are worth being spotlighted in the wine community. I believe wine should a fun and enjoyable experience for all. A bottle of wine can take you around the world from Argentina to France. It is a journey exploring wine and finding one you enjoy.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My biggest struggle is overcoming self-doubt. Sometimes when you enter a new space, you think, I don’t have enough knowledge, someone is already doing what I want to do and the market is over-saturated. Imposter syndrome sets in than you realize no one can create content, talk, or be like you. You are uniquely made and your voice will reach your audience. As long as you stay true to yourself – success and your community will come.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Wine Down With Alicia is a blog known for making wine a part of your lifestyle. You’ll find information on how to pair wine and food, how to host wine events, and wine cocktails. It’s not just wine reviews or recommendations because at the end of the day your palate picks the wine you like. I’m here to guide and present wine in a fun way for everyday life. Sparkling wine is not just for special occasions. I’m all for popping bubbly on Sunday Funday, but I want to educate you as well, like knowing the different varieties such as Cava, Champagne, and Prosecco.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love the community here in the city. You can find like-minded individuals to connect with on just about any interest or topic. What I dislike the most about my city is the traffic, I’m sure I’m not the only one that feels this way.
