Hi Altimese, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a marketing and PR professional with over 15 years of experience, and the journey started when I moved to Atlanta in 2007 to follow my dream of working at Cartoon Network. Three weeks after graduating from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, I moved with no permanent job in sight. I had an apartment reserved for a one-year lease and two part-time jobs that transferred me to the Metro Atlanta area. It seemed crazy to others, but it was absolutely divine for shaping the direction of my career and life.
In my early years, I worked seven days a week and applied relentlessly to Turner Broadcasting (now Warner Media) to eventually begin my career in PR precisely one year after my graduation date. Looking back, every part of the journey connects to significant parts of who I am today as the CEO and Founder of The Ezer Agency. We’re MBE-Certified, with a team that spans over 5 Continents with a full commitment to help our clients share their stories through impactful, sincere messaging to their audience and customers.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The journey is certainly adventurous, to say the least. I started my company in 2016 with no intention of becoming a full-time entrepreneur. I wanted to create an additional income stream for my family while building my career in Corporate America. I thought my strategy was fool-proof…. until I was laid off from my “secure” role as a director of social media.
I had two weeks of severance pay and a box of things that held my memories from the years. At that moment, I realized nothing is truly “secure,” and all great strategies leave room for a necessary pivot. Now, my agency is in a season of ascension. We’re pruning old habits, processes, and partnerships to make room for the next level. That sounds lovely, but the actual process hurts. It presents the internal issues that need to be addressed while requiring a level of trust in the process.
We’ve been impressed with The Ezer Agency, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Ezer Agency is a Black woman-owned, MBE-Certified public relations and digital marketing agency with a diverse team spanning five continents. As PR and marketing professionals prioritizing the lens of inclusive representation, we foster meaningful storytelling that crafts authentic omnichannel brand stories that cultivate impact beyond applause.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite childhood memory would be visiting Atlanta every summer to spend time with family. It sparked my love for the city and continues to be at the core of my life’s journey.
