Hidden Gems: Meet Amber Williams of Amber Joy Couture LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Williams

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started out in the strip club dressing room. I began designing dance outfits for dancers all around Atlanta.. I enjoyed making dance outfits mainly because there was no limits. Nothing was too much or over the top. I would make the outfits and set up in the dressing rooms sell them. I’d also alter and fix broken old outfits or resize them. Many knew me as the strip club seamstress. After my clientele grew in and outside of Atlanta, through the US , and even internationally, I decided to branch out to different types of garments and really loved making gowns and birthday dresses. My clients loved them too! As my clientele grew with dress making, I figured out that dresses are my niche! I love it , each year my dress designs get more and more intricate, and one day soon I will be opening the Amber Joy Couture store front.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Some struggles included machines breaking during crucial times
Some girls would order, wear the dress, then dispute the charges;

Saying “no” at times was also something I had to work through. I’m a retiring people-pleaser. Sometimes people would come to last min and need thing(s) made. Even if I already had too much on my plate, I still would try to accommodate. That really made people happy at times, and then other times it’d cause issues.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I am a couture dress designer who specializes in gowns, birthday dresses, pageant dresses and bridal. Im most known for exclusive custom birthday dresses and prom gowns. What sets me apart is my ability to make curvy women get the perfect fit to their looks. A lot of my clients are really curvy, had BBLs, or have wide hips and small waists. That can make it more difficult to get the perfect fit to your clothing, which is why my clients choose me as their designer. Also what sets me apart is my willingness to go above and beyond to achieve a look.
I am most proud of 2 particular gowns that were my absolute favorite ones to make. The 1st one of my favs was when I made a fabulous black diamond gown for Lil Scrappy’s and Erica Dixon’s beautiful daughter Emani Richardson. It was for Emani’s senior prom. These were my 1st celebrity clients and they were the absolute coolest, most down to earth people you could ever meet and the easiest clients to deal with. The 2nd fav dress that I’m super proud of is when I had the honor to make my mother’s wedding gown. She trusted me, believed in me, and reassured me all the way through.
I want readers to know that I put God 1st always ,I will give 110% towards every look a customer gives me to make, and I make custom dress dreams come true.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory is sketching out dresses for fun at home and playing childhood games outside with my 10 brothers and sisters.
