Hidden Gems: Meet Aniyah Wright of Alyse Blinks

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aniyah Wright.

Hi Aniyah, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
In May 2020, I was a high school graduate. Shortly after graduation, I had an impulsive thought to take the lash class. In July I took the class, and out of nowhere, I had a rush of motivation. Immediately after my class, I begin shopping for lash product and decor, and I created my social media page. It was literally a walk of faith! I was making big moves without even knowing if I’d have clients or if I was good enough. In the beginning of August 2020, I practiced on my cousin for the first time. It was very tough, but I pushed through! I actually started college & lashing at the same time. After posting her lash set, I began getting clients like crazy! It honestly blew my mind. It went up from there! I have had consistent clients since then & the Lord has blessed me mightily!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
One of my biggest struggles was wanting to be so good in such little time. I used to compare myself to other artists & expect my 1-year work to be like their 4-year work. I had to understand that we all have to start somewhere & those artists were once where I was!

As you know, we’re big fans of Alyse Blinks. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I am an eyelash extensions specialist! I am known for the calming atmosphere in my lash space. A lot of my clients comment on how peaceful it is. Almost everyone falls asleep & gets good rest! I take pride in that. My favorite music to play is worship music. My clients love it!

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
In September of 2020, I took a refresher lash course with a lash technician by the name of Taylor Bryant. Little did I know, God was setting me up! During the course, she literally told me everything she knew & helped me SO much. She was not stingy with information at all! After the course, she kept in touch with me & eventually asked me to do her lashes! I was very shocked & honored. We began to do each other’s lashes & we formed a bond in the midst. It was a mentor-mentee relationship while being a big sister-little sister relationship at the same time. In April of 2021, she got a lash shop in Downtown, Birmingham & I began working there. During my time with her, I learned & grew SO much. She looked out for me in so many ways! Taylor & I are lifetime sisters. Everyone needs a Taylor, but just not mine. I love you girl!
