Hidden Gems: Meet Ashley James of Mini Dixie Donuts

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley James.

Hi Ashley, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always had a passion for baking and had been researching mini donuts for quite a long time. The idea of it becoming a business came to fruition in April 2020!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We had been in the planning phase of the business for quite some time and began remodeling what would become our shop. As we started to get closer to our projected opening date, Covid was declared a global pandemic and overnight, everything had shut down. If became very hard to find supplies of any kind and we had to get really creative with what business would look like moving forward.

We’ve been impressed with Mini Dixie Donuts, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We make our mini donuts fresh each business day and have a large selection to choose from. Our shop is known for customized orders for birthdays, weddings, holiday treats, and so much more. We take great pride in our community and try to be as involved as we can be by partnering with many local businesses.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success to me is building a business that not only I love and enjoy but one that gives back to those we serve and making an impact within our community.
