Hidden Gems: Meet Asia Davis of Diors Beauty Company

Today we’d like to introduce you to Asia Davis.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hi, My name is Asia. I am a 23-year-old up and coming hairstylist from Bronx, New York originally. I started out doing hair on my friends and myself originally just as a hobby in my grandparent’s basement. I was really good at seamless sew-in installations that allowed full versatility with minimal leave out and just regular quick weaves. I was consistently switching it up, trying different colors, but I strayed away because I wasn’t 100% sure as to what my purpose was. I even attempted to do nails at one point in time, and I was pretty good at it if I continued practicing, I probably would’ve been great. I wasn’t getting the same response from my followers as I would’ve when I would do someone’s hair, clientele in the nail industry lacked because that simply wasn’t my niche. The moment I decided to have this conversation with myself, and I chose to be authentically who I was, loved who I was and authentically what I loved to do which was doing hair; Multiple doors opened up for me, this one included. God has a destiny for each and every one of us, and I tried to fight off the God-given gift and personality/character traits I was blessed with. I fought it for years saying “I want more, I need stability”, and it wasn’t until I went to god myself and asked him to use me, what am I supposed to do with my life, that he told me I had the talent all along; that the stability is right there if I wanted it, I just had to grab it.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road, at all the road is nowhere near finished. I am still going through the Ebbs and Flow of entrepreneurship. The major struggle that I have had was ensuring that I made time for myself, my business, ensuring that with everything I did that I wasn’t staying stagnant. Although some days, the clients aren’t pouring in the way you hoped and the response to your videos on socials didn’t jump the way you thought, but having a strong positive mindset is SO important when it comes to being your own boss because you have to keep going even if the engagement isn’t 100%. Entrepreneurship simply is meant for me. Working for someone else makes me feel like I am not giving enough attention to myself and what I want out of life the way I need to, but of course we all start somewhere.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Diors Beauty Company?
I am a hairstylist in East Atlanta, GA. I am a Raw and Virgin Hair Connoisseur. I specialize in all things hair, installations and quality. I have tried hundreds of vendors and I have picked the most reasonable choices out of all of them for both Raw and Virgin, from Indian to Cambodian. Everything down to shipping was weighed of course with pros and cons. I am most proud of my research and taking my time with how I represent myself and my brand. It’s very important to me how I portray myself to the public and my brand. What set’s me apart from others is my brand itself and my techniques. I have learned my technique from a celebrity hairstylist and increased my quality and clientele a lot. The technique, the products I brought from her along with the skill I had already acquired, and my need for perfection, lol. What sets me apart is the quality, installs that increase longevity, bundles that last for years and with bleaching or any type of chemicals used, it will literally bounce back, and my stitching is immaculate!

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
In the next 5-10 years, I see myself opening my own salon suites with marble flooring and floor-to-ceiling windows in Atlanta. That has been a huge dream of mine, and as times passes and more people see my work, it feels more and more possible. The goal was to provide a space for young women and men who are upcoming hairstylists who need somewhere to work and express their creativity. Growing up and trying to take clients, I had nowhere to bring them, play music, and laugh and actually build a bond with my clients. Salon Suites for Up and coming hairstylists has not been done yet, people rent out booths for those who already know the game, I want to help change and influence the hair game. I also see myself becoming a master cosmetologist, going back to school for my Bachelors is Business Management/Administration, to broaden my expertise, to not just be a business but to be THE businesswoman.
