Hidden Gems: Meet Bradi Newman of Alabaster Company

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bradi Newman.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am the daughter of entrepreneurial parents and grew up working alongside them in their jewelry stores around metro Atlanta. That’s when the seed was planted and it all truly began. I just didn’t know it yet!

In 2008, I graduated college from Georgia Southern University and soon after got married and started a family. I balanced a family and a career in healthcare for a decade. When the pandemic happened (and the world was forced to educate their children at home), I decided to go back to my retail roots and started Alabaster Company, a women’s boutique. I purchased an old shuttle bus (“Alice”) already converted into a boutique and brought a mobile, personalized shopping experience to my customers and community. While I loved the idea of being 100% mobile, I opened Alabaster Company’s first brick and mortar location in downtown Hoschton in October of 2022.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Mostly. I embrace all challenges as a moment to teach myself something new as a business owner.

Things that were struggles along the way:
Launching a website
Inventory management
POS system

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Alabaster Company?
Alabaster Company is a boutique located in a small town in northeast Georgia (Hoschton, GA). A+C originally started out as a mobile boutique and frequented many pop-ups and festivals around Georgia.

While “Alice”, the Fashion Truck, is still alive and well, the opportunity arose to open a brick-and-mortar store in the Fall of 2022. Since opening the store, A+C also now offers an eclectic collection of vintage homewares along with our clothing and accessories. Every item that we sell is hand-picked to ensure all things fit within A+C’s aesthetic and to offer good quality clothing (and accessories) at an affordable price.

A+C’s mission is to serve the community, provide to those in need locally and ensure everyone leaves our doors feeling better than when they got here. We have a lot of love to offer if you just step inside!

XOXO!

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Believe in yourself and set small goals. And pray! Pray about everything before making a decision.
