Today we’d like to introduce you to Brauni Orr.
Hi Brauni, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Well, I’ve been cooking my entire life. That was me and my mom’s way of bonding together when she wasn’t working. However, my career in catering started when the pandemic hit. I was laid off from my job and I needed a way to make money. I came up with the idea of selling plates just for 1 day, to see how it would go, and I made $500 in that day. After that, I knew I had something great.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Honestly, I would actually say it’s been smoother than expected. You’re gonna always run into hiccups in the business, that’s just a part of growing. But everything is small compared to me losing my mom & grandma and still trying to be an entrepreneur. Once I overcame that, I don’t feel like it’s nothing I can’t do now!

I am the owner and creator of Souled Out Plates. We are a Southern Catering service that operates throughout the South. We cater for corporate events, weddings, baby showers, graduations, as well as pop-up shops in the city and surrounding areas. Souled Out Plates stands out because we take pride in two things, seasonings and service. We always give our clients the best-tasting food, as well as the best experience with us, that will make you want to shop with us again.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I would love to shout out my entire team. I couldn’t have made it this far without any of them. Xay Lorenzo is one of my business partners and branding manager, Anya Walker is my assistant, My Cousin Breyana is also my assistant, Demarcus Marrow is my marketing specialist and assistant as well. It took an entire village to get here and we still have a ways to go, but things have been going amazingly because of them.
