Hidden Gems: Meet Brittany Woodard of The Point of Health Wellness Center

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Woodard.

Brittany Woodard

Hi Brittany, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was a sickly child, and my mom took me to many doctors as a kid. None of them were able to pinpoint what the root cause of my symptoms. It was only through visiting a Naturopathic doctor that we received advice to change my environment and my diet and accurately diagnosed the root cause. After that, my symptoms cleared up, and I was able to go back to enjoying my childhood.

Initially, I wanted to follow in the footsteps of the doctor that saved me. While studying to be a naturopathic doctor, I had the opportunity to follow an acupuncturist and saw that it was a very effective, affordable, and community-minded practice. I transitioned then and haven’t looked back.

I currently hold a Doctorate in Traditional Chinese medicine and am a licensed herbalist, acupuncturist, and nutritionist. I own and operate the Point of Health Wellness Center with my husband and sister where we have hundreds of patients under my care. I am proud to treat injured veterans at no cost to the veteran. We have expanded to fill out our entire suite and can now offer Community Acupuncture at a discounted rate.

We look forward to moving more into our specialization of women’s health. Helping women with the underdiagnosed and under-researched health issues that are affecting all Georgia women, but disproportionately black women, is very near and dear to my heart.

We are looking to add services and continue to grow our practice.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Learning the ins and outs of business in a practical way has been challenging. Things like hiring, implementing functional processes, and being flexible enough to make the changes we need to have all been big lessons.

We have fluctuated in size and have gone from renting one room to owning two locations with over eight rooms and four practitioners. We are now much more streamlined and efficient. We have consolidated into one large space that can hold all of our clients but getting here was quite a journey.

As you know, we’re big fans of The Point of Health Wellness Center. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We are a black woman-owned and operated organization, because of this we specialize in treating women, especially black women. Due to the state of healthcare for women in the state of Georgia, we hold a very unique position. There has been many documented case studies that reflect the tragic record of GA from having the highest pregnancy mortalities among black women to thousands of reports of women feeling unheard and not believed by their doctors.

We listen, we understand, and we have natural solutions to many health concerns. These solutions do not require surgery and have minimal to no side effects.

We treat each person as an individual and develop a treatment plan specific to their body’s needs. Included in this is a dietary plan, as well as Herbal prescriptions.

All of the Herbs we recommend are organic, naturally occurring in nature, and derived from whole foods.

We also treat veterans at no cost to the veteran.

We accept private insurance.

Acupuncture is life-changing!

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was always scientifically inclined. As I stated much of my childhood I was very ill. I enjoyed annoying my older sister and playing the violin. I also liked to take things apart and figure out how they worked.

I was always very studious and participated in many science and medical student programs.

Once I started seeing the naturopathic doctor and my health rebounded, I entered High School and became vegetarian. I connected with a group of friends that I am still very close with today. I treat a few of their parents.
