Today we’d like to introduce you to Chanel Beauty.
Hi Chanel, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Beauty For Chanel’s Ashes
I was introduced to beauty at a young age. I was obsessed with enhancing my beauty in different ways. From getting my hair done in the most popular styles to my nails which were done regularly and always up to date. Brows, makeup, lashes & hair meant everything to me.
It took me some time to get to that point in my life because growing up as a little girl the way I viewed myself, I felt like I wasn’t pretty. I would get compared to people around me like my step-sister, or cousins, or just strangers. There was a time in my life when I felt so invisible and never seen. As an only child and spent most of my time alone when I was younger, I wanted to figure out ways to make myself feel good. Enhancing my appearance and taking time and effort into how I show up myself was important to me.
Realizing now how badly I wanted validation and attention, I made a lot of bad decisions & mistakes when I was younger.
My life changed dramatically at the age of 19 when I was incarcerated for a crime I did not commit nor was a part of.
I fought, I prayed, I struggled, I cried, I grew, I matured, I blossomed, I took time with God. I overcame and became a different person. My mindset completely changed and I realized that this time wasn’t fully about me.
My spirituality grew tremendously. I realized that I am here on earth to serve & help people know God’s love. I encountered so many beautiful women that were on so many different paths. But we all struggled the same. We decided less for ourselves; and that looked different for everyone. Whether it’s dealing with the wrong guy, drugs, money or the wrong crowd in general.
Once I started giving God my ashes (my hurt, my shame, my disappointment, my mistakes, my low self-esteem) and He turned it into Beauty. I was able to use my story to help other women open up and realize the love they have for themselves.
These women need real connections. They need to understand that it starts with yourself; truly giving yourself grace for the mistakes that have been made and start loving you.
I finally returned home right before my 24th birthday and was so thankful for what was to come.
At first, coming from a dark place and seeing how those women really needed help, I wanted to go to school to become a juvenile probation officer. However, I could not get in school for some odd reason. I pleaded and asked God to help me figure out what to do. Then an angel (my brother) told me I should go to school to be an esthetician.
An esthetician is also known as a skincare specialist. They clean and beautify the skin by giving facials, full body treatments, massages & applies makeup. More invasive treatments like chemical peels, laser hair removal, eyelash extensions & more.
I went to school in 2017 and graduated 9 months later. While in school, I worked three different jobs. I was a front desk manager at a popular chain spa & a waitress. Once I graduated and received my license. I quit my waitress job and focused fully on learning as much as I can.
I worked at one of the best spas in Midtown, Atlanta. I also worked with one of the top estheticians in Buckhead And had the opportunity to work as a medical esthetician in a renowned plastic surgery practice. All of these opportunities has helped me become better as a Beauty Professional.
After all the years of training and building a name for myself, I decided to start Beauty Therapy. Beauty Therapy has always been a part of me since I was in school but I needed the right confidence and knowledge to truly go on my own. I gained over 200 loyal clientele including some amazing celebrities; I’ve taken many trainings and certifications to further my knowledge and expertise within the skin industry.
One of my proudest accomplishments is owning a HydraFacial Machine and being a black diamond provider: which are one of the TOP HydraFacialists in Atlanta. I had two suites that were very successful as well until I had to closed down temporarily for the arrival of my daughter.
I had my beautiful daughter in the beginning of 2021 which then led my business to transition home.
Things have changed for me tremendously however I am thankful that I still work on my vision daily; despite my circumstances.
Great things are on the way for me. I have a new location that is being renovated in Downtown Tucker and I am so excited and so grateful for what is to come.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
If it was easy I would be nervous lol. Hard work always pays off and good things will always come to good people.
My dreams and visions are big and could be looked at as impossible but I will work every day because of my faith. When you have faith that everything is going to work out for you, no matter what things may look like now; nothing can touch you.
Some of my main obstacles have been getting capital for my business. A lot of times as a real small business – only 1 employer – despite my income, I was overlooked. So throughout COVID-19 shutdowns and numerous appointment cancellations, I started teaching as a Skin Care Instructor to help students become licensed professionals.
Despite the obstacles I endured, everything continued to help me become a better woman, mother, and businesswoman.
