Today we’d like to introduce you to Chele’ Jenkins.
Hi Chele’, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Becoming Her really started in a season when I was unbecoming everything that no longer served who God was calling me to be. I didn’t plan for it to become a brand; it began as my personal faith journey. I was a mom, wife, and creative trying to make sense of purpose while balancing real life. I started sharing transparent reflections about growth, healing, and faith online, and women began reaching out saying, “Sis, this is exactly where I am.”
That’s when I realized Becoming Her wasn’t just about me. It was a movement. I started creating journals and devotionals to help women stay consistent in their walk, then added apparel that lets faith meet fashion in everyday life. What began with a single book has grown into a full-blown brand, community, and now a women’s conference experience called The Encounter.
Becoming Her is for the woman in process, the one showing up even when it’s hard, trusting that she’s becoming everything God designed her to be. Every product, post, and event I create is a reminder that transformation doesn’t happen overnight, but it does happen when you keep showing up.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not a smooth road. Becoming Her was birthed out of some of my most uncertain seasons. There were moments when I questioned if I was qualified to pour into others while I was still healing myself. Balancing motherhood, marriage, work, and ministry while building a brand was not easy. There were times when sales were slow, plans fell apart, and I felt like giving up.
But those challenges taught me how to lean on God in a deeper way. Every setback became a setup for clarity and growth. I learned that purpose doesn’t always come wrapped in comfort. Sometimes it comes through pressure, pruning, and prayer. Looking back, the tough seasons built my endurance and made the vision for Becoming Her stronger. It’s been a faith walk every step of the way, but I wouldn’t trade the process. It’s made me and the brand what we are today.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Becoming Her is a faith-based lifestyle brand created to help women grow spiritually, mentally, and emotionally while discovering who they are in Christ. Through journals, devotionals, apparel, and women’s conferences, the brand provides tools and experiences that encourage women to show up for themselves and their faith journey.
What sets Becoming Her apart is its authenticity. Everything we produce, from the Becoming Her in Prayer journal to our annual women’s conference The Encounter, is rooted in transparency, faith, and transformation. We don’t just sell products; we create spaces for women to heal, connect, and grow.
I’m most proud that what began as a small idea has become a movement reaching women nationwide. Our community, known as Her Nation, continues to grow and thrive. Whether online or in person, we exist to remind women that becoming is a process, and every step, no matter how small, matters.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My biggest advice is to start where you are and trust that it’s enough. Don’t wait until everything is perfect to begin. I used to think I needed the perfect logo, the perfect plan, or all the answers before launching, but God showed me that obedience opens doors that preparation alone can’t.
Be consistent even when no one is clapping. The quiet seasons are where your foundation is built. And don’t compare your beginning to someone else’s middle. Focus on impact over impressions.
I wish I had known that it’s okay to grow in public. Mistakes and pivots don’t mean you failed; they mean you’re learning. Keep showing up, keep listening to God, and remember that small progress is still progress. Becoming takes time, but it’s always worth it.
