Hidden Gems: Meet China Amey of Aim with Amey

Today we’d like to introduce you to CHina Amey.

Hi China, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started as a young girl from College Park, GA fighting to gain college admission. Luckily I was able to gain a track and field scholarship to school at the University of West Georgia. Upon entering college, I quickly realized I was filled prepared for college-level instruction. I spent many nights in tears. School became difficult and I almost dropped out.

Instead of letting the adversity win. I decided to take advantage of the school’s resources and my professor’s office hours. I was able to work my way back to the continuous dean’s list. I graduated from the University of West Georgia with a bachelor’s degree in both Early Childhood Education General Education and Special Education.

After my difficult journey in college, I decided I would not let another child struggle the way I did academically. I made it my goal to advance my learning and learn about all learners and how to best reach ALL children. I received my Master at Georgia State University in Reading, Literacy and Language. I also worked on receiving my endorsements in autism, ESOL (English Speakers of Other Languages), and gifted learners. I am now coming to end of my journey to obtaining my Ph.D. in Early Childhood Leadership and Advocacy.

With my newfound knowledge, I have worked in my community helping children excel academically> I started my own tutoring service called Aim with Amey Tutoring Services. My business serves children in the metro Atlanta area working with children entering elementary and elementary-aged students. I also worked Smith non-profit organizations, community centers and schools to help students that are struggling academically and to advance the learning of children scoring above grade level.

I currently work at a public school In Buckhead and formally working at a public school in College Park, GA.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
