Hidden Gems: Meet DeAndre Beasley of Beasley Culinary Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to DeAndre Beasley.

Hi DeAndre, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Started my culinary career as a dishwasher at the age of 15 and I’ve been a chef for 17 years now. Didn’t attend culinary but I work my way through several restaurants, catering, & food companies. I’ve worked for/opened 6 restaurants in the Atlanta airport, I’ve spent a few years as a Catering Sous Chef at The Mercedes Benz Stadium.

I was a Sous Chef for “Iron Chef CAT Cora” at CAT Cora Kitchen, also sous Chef for Emory University & Clark Atlanta University. I started my entrepreneurial journey in 2020 due to being laid off from Covid-19. I didn’t know how to get clients so I started passing out flyers around my area. These last two years of business I’ve done Meal Prep, Catering, & Private Dinners for 115 Clients. I’ve had the pleasure of catering big events for my clients like Jeremy Anderson, David Shands, Willie Mo Jr, NFL Headquarters, Business Masterminds in Miami & LA and many more. I’m currently looking to purchase my first restaurant and food truck.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely not been easy. The culinary world is extremely hard. Low pay & Long hours.

I’ve had several hospital visits due to high blood pressure and overworking.

When the super bowl was in ATL a few years ago, stadium officials rushed me to the hospital because my blood pressure was at stroke level. I was working 18hr days during the super bowl.

I’ve created recipes & dishes and the head chef would take credit for my work.
