Hidden Gems: Meet Deanna Solis of The Luminous Beauty Bar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Deanna Solis.

Hi Deanna, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always had a passion for helping others. I’ve been a registered nurse for almost a decade and in the medical field for over 20 years. I am currently certified in skincare and oncology.

Several years ago, I started incorporating self-care into my daily routine. Skincare being one of those things and that’s when I became obsessed. I had to learn everything about it from the ingredients, products, different skin types, skin issues and how to treat them.

While working full-time as an oncology RN and taking care of my family, I dedicated my time to learn about aesthetics so I could help others feel better in their own skin. That wasn’t good enough for me. I wanted to take it a step further but I was too scared to take the initial step to open my own studio. Even though I am always up for a challenge and trying to find ways to grow, I was too nervous of failure. I already had the plan, the company name and even made my own logo but I still couldn’t pull the trigger.

One night after debating on if I could run a business, my husband gave me his ATM card and said, “Stop playing around and pay for your license so you can start your business already.” That little push is what I needed. That’s when it became official. That’s when I decided to open up ‘The Luminous Beauty Bar,’.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Building a business from scratch was not a smooth road for me. There were a lot of hurdles. After jumping over one hurdle, another hurdle would pop up. I had to figure out how to fund the business, what services I wanted to provide and where to open. I wanted everything to be perfect so that I could serve my clients well. The main hurdle was trying to find funding so I can actually have the products and supplies to start. After numerous attempts, I finally got what I needed. I wanted to give up but I’m glad I kept pushing.

As you know, we’re big fans of The Luminous Beauty Bar. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I am a registered nurse that does non-invasive aesthetics. I customize every treatment to tackle whatever skin concerns my client may have. I am a HydraFacial provider as well as an Image Skincare professional. I am dedicated to bring the art of skincare and my nursing knowledge to help people rediscover self-love and to feel confident in their own skin. In the future, I will be providing facials to oncology patients that are undergoing active treatment for cancer. I want them to have a safe place to come and be able to practice self-care during a stressful time.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My husband has been my biggest cheerleader. Despite the challenges we’ve faced, he’s always had my back. He’s always had faith in me even when I didn’t have faith in myself. I am thankful for him and his continued support.

Also, I’ve been very blessed with a small group of family and friends. They have been very supportive and have given me a safe place to go. Without my circle, I wouldn’t be who I am today.
