Hi Denise, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Denise Murray, also known as Niecy Murray, and I’m the founder and CEO of Unique Business Experience LLC (UBE LLC). Today I’m an accountant, business consultant, notary, and travel business owner… but my story didn’t start with success. It started with pressure. It started with uncertainty. It started with me trying to hold everything together while life kept life-ing.
In 2008, I moved from Philadelphia to Georgia, carrying more than just boxes. I had real responsibilities—a mortgage, a car note, and a young child—and I was determined to make it work. Like most people, I believed if I worked hard, stayed consistent, and did what I was “supposed” to do, everything would fall into place.
But it didn’t.
I went through job instability and setbacks that forced me into survival mode. There were moments I was scared—moments I didn’t know what was coming next, but I knew I couldn’t fall apart because I had someone depending on me. People don’t always understand what it feels like to be strong in public but struggling in private… and still showing up every day.
That season of my life changed me.
I realized that I didn’t just want a job — I wanted control over my future. I wanted stability that couldn’t be taken away from me. I wanted to build something that nobody could fire me from. And that’s when I took a leap and invested in myself. I enrolled in a tax preparation course, not even knowing that it would be the beginning of my life’s purpose.
That one decision opened doors.
I went on to earn my Accounting degree, and as I started working in taxes and finances, I saw something that really moved me: so many people were working hard and still struggling—not because they weren’t capable, but because nobody taught them the rules. I saw people starting businesses with passion and dreams… but no structure, no plan, no guidance. I saw entrepreneurs doing everything they could, and still falling behind because they didn’t know what they didn’t know.
And it hit me deeply because I could relate.
I knew what it felt like to have big goals but limited information. I knew what it felt like to be trying your best but still feeling stuck. And I promised myself right there that if I ever got the chance, I would become the person who helps others get it right.
In 2015, I officially launched Unique Business Experience LLC, and I always laugh a little because even the beginning wasn’t perfect—I originally messed up my business name. But that mistake taught me everything. It taught me the importance of structure, doing things legally and correctly, and not rushing the foundation. I didn’t quit. I restructured. I rebuilt. I came back stronger.
And that’s honestly the theme of my whole life.
UBE eventually grew into a full-service company where I now help clients with:

But I didn’t stop at business services… because I realized my purpose was bigger than paperwork.

I also expanded into the travel business industry, which became another path to freedom and generational wealth. Through travel, I’ve helped people create residual income, access business perks, and even position themselves for tax benefits as business owners.
And in the middle of all of that, God kept pulling on my heart about community.
That’s why I created my nonprofit, UBE Cares Foundation, to support high school seniors and families in need. We provide scholarships, help students start businesses, and support the community with back-to-school items, Thanksgiving meals, and Christmas support. Giving back isn’t something I do for attention—it’s personal. I know what it feels like to need help. I know what it feels like to be trying and still coming up short. So if I can be the blessing I once prayed for… that’s exactly what I want to be.
Today, when people see me, they see the titles. They see the business owner. They see the success. But what they don’t always see is the road it took to get here.
I am built from pressure.
I am built from survival.
I am built from faith.
I am built from starting over and still believing.
And that’s why I do what I do.
Because I want people to know that your past doesn’t disqualify you. Your setbacks don’t cancel your purpose. You can start from scratch, rebuild after mistakes, and still create a life and business you love. And if I’m any proof of anything, it’s that consistency and faith will take you further than fear ever will.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road — not even close. My journey has had a lot of bumps, detours, and moments where I truly had to lean on faith and keep going even when I was tired, discouraged, or unsure.
One of my biggest struggles early on was stability. When I moved from Philadelphia to Georgia, I was trying to build a new life while carrying real responsibilities — and job instability forced me into survival mode. There were times I had to figure things out day by day while still being a mother and making sure my household didn’t fall apart.
Another struggle was learning entrepreneurship the hard way. When I started Unique Business Experience LLC, I realized quickly that being talented isn’t enough — you need strategy, structure, systems, and confidence. I made mistakes, even with something as simple as my business name in the beginning. It was humbling, but it taught me how important it is to build the foundation correctly and not rush.
I also had to overcome imposter syndrome — feeling like I had to “prove myself” or that I wasn’t ready yet. When you’re the first person in your circle doing something different, it can feel lonely. And when you’re building without a blueprint, you’re constantly learning through trial and error.
And honestly, one of the hardest parts has been people not seeing the work behind the scenes. As a business owner, especially in accounting and taxes, it can feel like you’re carrying everyone else’s deadlines, stress, and responsibilities — but still expected to show up like everything is easy. I had to learn boundaries, time management, and how to protect my peace while still serving clients at a high level.
But those struggles didn’t break me — they built me. They made me stronger, sharper, and more purposeful. And they’re a huge reason why I’m so passionate about helping entrepreneurs do things the right way, because I know what it feels like to be trying your best without guidance.
