My journey began with a deep-rooted passion for beauty, wellness, and empowerment. In 2018, I opened Pure Beauty Bar ATL in Jonesboro, Georgia, with the vision of creating a salon that offered more than just services—it would be a sanctuary where clients felt seen, celebrated, and transformed. From the beginning, we specialized in blowouts, natural hair care, extensions, makeup, and braiding, but our mission was always bigger than beauty. We wanted to restore confidence, elevate self-expression, and build legacy.

Over the years, Pure Beauty Bar has grown into a trusted brand with a loyal clientele and a reputation for excellence. Our team is known for its professionalism, creativity, and warmth, and we’ve cultivated a peaceful, stylish atmosphere that keeps people coming back. Whether it’s a flawless sew-in, a custom wig install, or a bold ombré bob, we treat every appointment like a work of art.

Now, we’re expanding. Our second location—Lai’s Beauty Lounge—is in development, and it will specialize in braiding and weaving services for clients experiencing Alopecia or undergoing cancer treatment. This new space is deeply personal and purpose-driven. It’s about healing, dignity, and representation. We’re building it to be a safe haven for those navigating hair loss, offering expert care and compassionate styling that honors their journey.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all—it’s been a road paved with resilience, lessons, and growth.

Building Pure Beauty Bar ATL from the ground up came with its share of challenges. In the early days, we had to fight for visibility in a saturated market, prove our value, and earn trust one client at a time. Managing operations, marketing, and staffing while still being hands-on with clients demanded long hours and relentless dedication. There were moments when resources were tight, and we had to get creative just to keep the doors open and the energy high.

One of the biggest hurdles was navigating the emotional weight of our mission. We weren’t just styling hair—we were restoring confidence for women dealing with hair loss, trauma, or self-image struggles. That meant creating a space that was not only professional but deeply compassionate. It required training our team to meet people where they are, emotionally and physically, and to deliver excellence with empathy.

Opening Lai’s Beauty Lounge has introduced new layers of complexity. Specializing in Alopecia and cancer care means we’re stepping into sensitive territory, where every braid or weave carries emotional significance. We’ve had to research, consult with medical professionals, and design services that honor both beauty and healing. It’s a beautiful challenge—but one that demands precision, patience, and heart.

Through it all, we’ve stayed grounded in our purpose: to uplift, empower, and represent. Every struggle sharpened our vision. Every setback became a setup for legacy. And now, with two locations and a growing brand, we’re stronger, wiser, and more committed than ever.

That love for sound naturally spilled into creativity across the board—whether it was styling hair, sketching designs, or dreaming up business ideas, I was always building something that felt personal and powerful.

Personality-wise, I was a mix of quiet observation and bold imagination. I paid attention to detail, but I wasn’t afraid to stand out. I had a natural gift for making people feel seen and celebrated, even before I knew I’d turn that into a career. I was the one friends came to for advice, for a fresh look, or just to feel inspired. I loved transforming everyday moments into something beautiful—whether through a hairstyle, a playlist, or a vision for the future.
