Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Andrena Phillips.
Dr. Andrena, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey didn’t start with a blueprint or a perfect plan. It started with life happening to me and a decision that life would not define me. I’ve worn many hats along the way: but in reality, I am a woman rebuilding herself brick by brick. I came from humble beginnings, navigated seasons of loss, adversity, and uncertainty, and still chose to keep moving forward even when the path wasn’t clear.
I spent over two decades in the medical field, serving others while quietly learning leadership, resilience, and the power of showing up when it’s hard. At the same time, I was doing the internal work healing, unlearning survival mode, and discovering that my voice, my story, and my experiences had value. What once felt like setbacks became the very fuel for my purpose.
Today, I stand as a transformational leader, speaker, and coach not because life was easy, but because I refused to quit. I’ve built businesses, launched movements, certified coaches, and created spaces where women and leaders can heal, grow, and step fully into who they are called to be. Every chapter, including the painful ones, prepared me to help others do the same.
Where I am today is proof that purpose is often born in the middle of pressure. I am still becoming, still growing, and still answering the call to empower others to walk in confidence, clarity, and power. This journey is not about perfection. It’s about obedience, consistency, and the courage to keep going.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all. The road has been anything but smooth. There were seasons filled with uncertainty, loss, and moments where I had to figure things out while still showing up for everyone else. I’ve navigated grief, personal setbacks, financial pressure, and the weight of responsibility while building something bigger than myself. There were times when I questioned the timing, the process, and even myself but never the purpose.
Some of the biggest struggles were learning how to keep going when the support was limited, when doors closed, and when I had to rebuild from the inside out. I had to unlearn survival mode, set boundaries, and choose growth even when it was uncomfortable. The struggle wasn’t just external, it was internal learning to trust myself again, to believe that my voice mattered, and to walk confidently in spaces I once only dreamed of.
But every challenge sharpened me. Every hard season strengthened my faith, my leadership, and my resilience. What felt like resistance was really preparation. The road wasn’t smooth, but it was necessary. And I wouldn’t change it, because the struggle shaped the woman and the leader I am today.
As you know, we’re big fans of KeepMovinWithAndrena. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
My brand is built on empowerment, transformation, and legacy. At the core of everything I do is helping individuals and organizations become whole, confident, and clear in who they are and how they lead. I work at the intersection of personal mastery, professional development, and leadership because I believe growth is not one dimensional. How you heal personally shows up in how you lead professionally.
I am known for creating transformational spaces whether through coaching, speaking, training, or certification where people don’t just feel inspired, they experience real change. I specialize in leadership development, mindset transformation, confidence building, and helping coaches and professionals turn their purpose into sustainable, profitable work. I don’t just teach theory. I help people apply what they learn so it shows up in their lives, businesses, and communities.
What sets my brand apart is authenticity and depth. I don’t believe in surface level motivation. I believe in doing the inner work and the strategic work at the same time. My approach is real, structured, and heart led. I meet people where they are, but I don’t let them stay there. I challenge them to think bigger, move differently, and lead with intention.
Brand wise, I’m most proud of the impact. Watching clients gain clarity, confidence, and courage to step into rooms they once felt unqualified for is everything. I’m proud of building programs and platforms that don’t just spotlight me, but elevate others coaches, leaders, and visionaries who are now walking in their calling and transforming lives themselves. That is legacy work.
What I want readers to know is that my brand is not about perfection or overnight success. It’s about growth, healing, and intentional movement forward. Everything I offer coaching, speaking, training, certification, and publishing is designed to help people rise with purpose, build with integrity, and lead with power. This brand is a reminder that your story matters, your voice is needed, and your next level is possible when you commit to becoming whole.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Absolutely. My biggest advice is to be intentional and genuine. Don’t go looking for a mentor just because it sounds good. Go looking for alignment. A mentor should reflect where you’re trying to go, not just in success, but in values, integrity, and how they move. Before asking anyone to pour into you, do the work. Learn their journey, support what they’re building, and show up with respect for their time and experience.
When it comes to networking, relationships have worked far better for me. Real networking happens when you build trust, stay consistent, and show up. Some of my strongest connections came from simply being present, following up, and staying in touch long after the event was over.
What has worked well for me is showing up as myself. I don’t shrink, perform, or pretend. Authenticity attracts the right people. I’ve also learned the importance of discernment. Everyone isn’t meant to mentor you, and everyone you meet isn’t meant to walk with you long term. Pay attention to who stretches you, challenges you, and sees your potential even when you’re still becoming.
Most importantly, be a good mentee and a good connector. Apply what you’re taught. Honor access. And remember, networking isn’t about collecting contacts, it’s about cultivating meaningful relationships that grow over time.
