Hidden Gems: Meet Dr. Sheirra Marci of S.I.S. Selebrating in Sisterhood LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Sheirra Marci.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
In 2013, when I graduated from Kennesaw State University with my Bachelor of Arts degree, I realized that I did not have the authentic support that I had given to others. After planning and hosting a graduation party to commemorate this accomplishment, the anticipated number of guests was substantially less than I planned. It was the last large event that I planned for myself. Instead of large events, I started planning events with 5-6 ladies. The events became an instant success because it was on a smaller scale. I invited the same 5-6 ladies each time I hosted an event, and we always had a great time. I quickly realized that someone’s presence meant more than the presents did. In 2021, after having a conversation with one of my close Sista friends, I shared with her an idea that I had regarding forming an organization. She immediately loved the idea. Her exact words were, “This is truly needed among women.” Even with that first stamp of approval, I was not convinced. In August 2023, I shared the idea again, and it was received well. Yet, I still did not immediately act on what God had given me to do. In November of that same year, I finally leaped and decided to form my Sisterhood Organization, S.I.S. Selebrating in Sisterhood LLC. It was time for me to offer a space where women felt heard, safe, supported, and selebrated. The experience that I built with the same 5-6 ladies over the years, I wanted to offer it to more women through a powerful network of sistas. I wanted to provide a space where women authentically served, supported, and selebrated each other.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Nothing worth having is easy, right? Therefore, the road has not always been smooth, but it has been worth it. The SIS Organization was a newly formed organization as of December 1, 2023. We started with nine members. Those individuals admitted that they needed the community that the organization offered. However, after 3-6 months, it was determined that some individuals were not the right fit for the organization. Initially, I was disappointed, but I quickly realized that the individuals who were meant to be a part of the organization would be, and those who were not would move on gracefully. After a short time, more members joined, and we were able to launch our LSIS S2S Mentorship Program. Since we are a small organization, I am still covering a large portion of the organizational cost on my own, but I am encouraged. Despite a few hiccups along the way, the organization has been very successful, and it grows each year.

We’ve been impressed with S.I.S. Selebrating in Sisterhood LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
In a world that demands so much from women, I felt it was necessary to create a powerful network of women positively influencing the world. Our mission is to authentically equip, empower, and encourage women through service, support, selebration, and sisterhood. We provide a safe space for women to thrive. We realize women can reach their full potential when they are provided with the support, skills, and resources to succeed. At SIS Selebrating in Sisterhood LLC, we believe that every woman has the power to embrace who they are, define their future, and change the world. Our vision is to create a powerful network of women positively influencing the world though selebration, service, support, and sisterhood. We cultivate a community where women are heard, not judged, complimented, not competed against, supported, not forgotten, and safe, not stressed. We are committed to pouring into our network of Sistas passionately & authentically. In addition, the SIS Organization offers a Mentorship Program.

The LSIS (Lil SIS) S2S (Steps 2 Success) Mentorship Program is a program dedicated to girls and young women 12-25. The SIS Executive Board is committed to providing a Mentorship Program that aligns with our mission to authentically equip, empower, and encourage girls and young women through service, support, selebration, and sisterhood.

Service means our SIS Mentors share their time, knowledge, and experience to help guide, empower, and encourage mentees.
Support means our SIS Mentors provide guidance, motivation, and resources to help mentees develop personally and professionally.
Selebration means our SIS Mentors recognize and commemorate the accomplishments, progress, and completion of the mentoring relationship, fostering gratitude, strengthening bonds, and sharing positive outcomes to inspire others and promote the program’s value.
Sisterhood means our SIS Mentors & SIS Mentees demonstrate reciprocal support where both mentors and mentees learn from one another.

What are your plans for the future?
I am looking forward to growing and expanding the SIS Organization globally. We are preparing for the 2nd Annual SIS Tea, our 1st Annual SIS Retreat, and several community engagement events where we give back to the communities we live in. We look forward to building strong and authentic partnerships with other small businesses and organizations.
